8 outs question trying to use mono but can't switch

Hey wsup I was trying to use my 8 outs to send into my digi 002 - PT7 but all I could get was stereo from my 8 outs when I try to assign it to a out I got 1/2 or 3/4 when I just want 1 or 2 or 3 or 4 anyway can someone please help me out here ?

Sounds like you need to either resample your samples in mono or you could load them up into protools and record them on to new mono tracks.. oh yeah, i almost forgot, you could use Audacity, a free audio editor, to covert the sounds to mono. Audacity can be found at http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

mono samples will give you a choice of ANY output.

stereo samples will give you the choice of ONLY

In the trim screen highlight the sample name and press the window button. Here you can convert stereo samples to 2 mono samples (left and right channel).

pt3r, does the 2k have that option? i have been converting in audition this whole time....


also dont mean to jack the post but this is a question about the 8 outs...


what is the point of having the 8 outs when all my sounds are still coming from the main outs aswell? i may assign each sound to an output but they all still play from the main outs. what if i want my melody to be in the main outs but assign all my drums to individual outs. how can i prevent the drums from playing in the main outs? am i making sense?? thanks to anyone that can help out!

In the mixer screen select the channel you want to edit and press the open window button here you can set the stereo volume to 0 this will stop your sample from going through your main outs.
This works the same on the 2k classic see manual page 122 there is a screen shot that shows what I'm talking about.

I don't know whether the 2k classic can convert stereo samples to mono.

Edit: I just checked the manual and it seems like this feature is not available in the 2k classic.

Make sure you set the volume for the individual out of course otherwise you will hear jack
