So twisted between the 2000XL or 2500

I just don't know what I'd like better...I've been rocking an MPC2000 my whole life and the XL with 8 outs option and card reader would be like what I'm used to and everything....or do I go with the 2500 that's new? I've heard the knob really sucks on that one plus the pads are on the wrong side...plus I've heard about alot of bugs and they say the 2500 is based on the MPC1000...that's kinda just a cheap imitation of the MPC series...I want a TANK that's built tough and RELIABLE...I just don't know

Easy with dissin the 2500. It's a awsome machine dispite a few minor bugs that are being worked out. The workflow is so much faster and it sounds great. The bugs are minor and really don't affect you much when working. I own both and think thats the best option. Keep the 2000 and get the 2500. the adta wheel does suck but other than that this thing is real tight. The pads are centered and feel great . No more stiff neck from holding your head sideways to look at the little screen, that the other big advantage is the big screen it make a big difference in fatigue on your eyes. Go to guitar center and play with one for real.

The data wheel only sucks because many of us have used MPCs over the years and grown accustom to the way the previous data wheel felt. Truth be told, the 2000 has a better data wheel than ALL MPCs..IMHO.

If you want an MPC that is built like a tank but doesn't do much else(when compared to the latest MPCs)...go with an older model like an MPC 60 or 3000.

go the 2500 128mb RAM and internal HD - no to 2000/XL for the minimus Ramidge.

your techniques are so advanced that the older mp's just dont cut it? Please..

Go to a shop and play with the both of them and see which one you like best. As far as Ram goes 32 on the XL is more than enough! Unless youre chopping huge chunks of songs and doing mad Sh!t at the same time you dont need all that much. For me the 2000XL is the way to go. It has a great feel that I didnt get from the 2500. Nothing against the 2500 users of course... Just do you....

I am sorry that I offended you. Older MPCs can still sample and sequence but they still don't do much more than that even with anyone's techniques. Thats fact not fiction homie

Oh..and as far as being built like a tank...the older MPCs buttons wear out as fast as any MPC.

And I do agree with the statement above. You can use the XL just fine and never use the extra meat and curly fries that the 2500 has...but once you go black..you will never go back

u want them LFO's if your into drum and bass.

yeah I guess I'm gonna go with the 2500...I already sold my MPC2000 (had it for 10 YEARS and it still worked like a champ...just wanted some newer features so I sold it to buy a new one) and I guess I'll just have to forget about that amazing knob...lol....oh well you can do real-time filter sweeps, 4 midi outs, 4 controllers (2 sliders and 2 knobs), 8 outs built-in, and a bunch of other new stuff too so I guess I'll join the new school of MPCs and buy a 2500...thanks!!

hmm...the pads are on the wrong side....

all this time and I didnt even think about it that way. I cant see myself bangin them joints wit my left hand...

10 years?? You must have pick one up directly from the manufacturing plant since they were released in 97

Yo What sup man...i been using both machines..i myself use a 2000 Xl and my boy uses a 2500. I have experience using both..and i personally am happy with the 2000xl. Though the 2500 is a good machine, it still reminds me of the 1000 that i had, and then sold a week later..LOL Its just not the same to me as the classic 2k and 2kxl IMO. The overall build seems cheaper, and the timing is not as tight. But its still a good machine..but if you have a comp i would reccommend getting the 2000XL with a card reader..as you can do everything on a computer anyway...so then there is no reason for the new features on the 2500. As for memory i find 32mb to be more then enough for hip-hop...i would get the 2kxl with the card reader and 8 outs.

i have only spent about 4 hours with the mpc2500 and find it to be pretty nice. I own a 2000xl loaded with a cardreader and external hard drive. I cannot justify selling my 2kxl to buy a 2500 although it has more features. There is always going to be something new. If you own a 2kxl stick with it if you are new to mpc's I would go with the 2500. If there is someone who says the 2k is to limited you have to think about their skill level. More hits were produced with the 2k than any other machine during the time it was released. filters or effects you need can be done in the computer because AKAI efx in my opinnion suck. Most real producers work with what they have even with big budgets, dont get sucked in to marketing schemes focus on creating music. Remember, the so called limitations on the 2k will bring the creativity and skill up out of you!!

Huh? The 2000XL/2000 is not built any better/worse than the 2500.

Now, if you need a simple yet great drum machine/sequencer..the 2000XL will be a top choice for years to come. But if you want better MIDI functions, better sample editing functions, and a more complete self-contained package, the 2500 is an excellent choice.

Put it this way...XL users may not need the extras that the 2500 has. However, 2500 users would be crazy to step down to an XL.
.....of course, that is just my opinion/thoughts.
