recording beats

if all you have is a 2000xl without 8 outs how can you record your beats other than 8 outs what should i buy that might be cheap because the mpc kinda put a dent in my pockets

You Need A Inexpensive 8 Channel Mixer or an 8 input audio Interface(which Will Cost more)

Or Even Better A HARD DISC RECORDER................


But all these thangz will cost sumthin'..........

my budget is about in the two hundered range

humm, if i were u id save up some $$$ and buy :

1- a new generation analog mixer with firewire option (e.g.: mackie onyx)

OR

2- a digital mixer


i dont suggest u to throw away that 2 hundred bucks in something cheap like a behringer mixer....u wont be very satisfied and it will be hard as hell to re sell it.

if u want to spend that 200 in any case, id go for a second hand audio card with 8 ins, like a motu or an echo audio....or even a crappy m-audio...

What's so crappy about M-Audio...? The man is talking about 200 bucks... A motu or echo will cost more then that (also 2nd hand).

Why not buy a stereo soundcard just for the time between getting a new interface/mixer?
I mean i have 8 outs on my 2kxl... but i only have a stereo soundcard (planning on getting a 8 in adat). All it really does is help u record 8 tracks at once... just press the record button a few more times **** it!

I have an M-Audio Delta 1010 I'm completely satisfied with it and have no complaints. (I spent more than $200 though).

hehehe k, i was a bit extreme on my judgement about m-audio, but fact is i dont like how they build their gear, ok its hella cheaper than many others and its not so bad, but its weakly built, it breaks easily (and im one of those f**erz that cannot keep things very well)...
i think some old 828 can come out fo cheap...

Poorly built? please. Steel, screws and electronic components, sounds just as 'cheap' as an Akai product. I don't see my m-audio breaking for a long long time, infact I don't think it will ever break.

same here. or you can buy midi cables and learn how to record midi. you dont necessarily need 8 outputs to record 8 tracks separately (but it helps)
if u got a computer make sure u have everything u need because in the long run (or somewhere along the line) $200 aint gon cut it

so if i have some old midi cords all i need is some firewire and a program like cubase or is there a more simpler route

Why is the whole world buying mpc's if they don't even know how to hook things up? Go learn midi, audio etc.... I think that's sumthin u need to focus on before buying anything else.

we got the mpc's to lay the ground floor. we had to start somewhere and we might as well get the foundation 1st. i dont have the 8 outs either so i'm in the same boat. i have seen some ideas here but it looks like the m-audio would work for now. i didnt even know about the recording options either till i opened the manual. i thought you could just record and bounce it over to a computer program.

i bought the mpc off ebay with no manual and i thought going to mpc forums would help me out on a couple of things its not like i never used a mpc i just never owned and recorded beats off of an mpc im sorry my story is funny to some of you but it is very seious to me all i need is for someone to tell me how to record a beat off a mpc 2000 xl with no 8 out and it dosent have to be the way you do it it could be a different way and i have 4 midi cords i bought a while back also

you dont NEED firewire. just a soundcard with midi inputs/outputs (and audio inputs/outputs ofcourse) and yes a program. most soundcards come with programs. some come with cubase.

thank you very much thats all i needed to know because i just made a hot beat and i wanted to transfer it to my computer but i only have one question are you sure you don't need a mixer
