Card reader MPC classic

Ok ... I did a search, promise! With the following parameters

"card reader mpc classic"

Got lots of random posts.

As far as I know the classic can't support any card readers yeah?

Would the MPC be fooled?

Altho the reviews mention "drivers" which would suggest a resounding no! But ..anybody know? Have we been here before?

yeah, i guess i agree, the fact that drivers are needed does suggest there's something a little funkier going on than the device just "pretending" to be a floppy

That seems to be a really good idea, IF it didnt need drivers installed. However if someone come manufacture a device like that and it was MPC compatible, I'm pretty sure it would cost thrice times the amount of a card reader. To a lot of heads it would be worf it.

just get an xl and be done with it.

anyone here read the midicase.com write up on card readers..
it mentions this about the mpc2000 classic.

"MPC60 (with SCSI), MPC3000, MPC2000 can use external SCSI readers."

"External SCSI card readers are actually an internal card reader in a $5 box with a connector and power supply. This is a good option for MPC2000 owners as this model has no internal SCSI (without expensive modifications). If you get an external card reader, you can use it as is for any model. The PCD-40 is an exception as it was built as a external model only, sort of like a SCSI Zip, but I have a suspicion it is based on the PCD-25."

tell me someone has done this. i'm yet to do it, but i can't find a good cheap link on this flex...

Lampdog> Well I just got myself a classic for a stupidly low price because the guy was in a rush and it had a broken floppy drive. I have always wanted an XL but just found it hard to shell out the $ for such dated tech. Sure the fact that they retain their value used suggests they rock dated or otherwise. But, well, like I say I got this MPC dirt cheap so I'm gonna try and make the most of it as it is ... for now anyway.

I already know this homey. Mike Goines...I was being polite and asking on the humble...and am yet to get an answer LAMPDOG.

LOL, answer, not all scsi drives work with mpc's..

That's what the 2kxl manual says.

Hopefully someone has done it and can come up with a yes or no for you.

Jim, for simplicity sake just get a scsi external drive if you can.
