anyone using the mcd?

so i save my programs and sounds and sequences and songs to a flash card
and then save it to my computer. When I load them back up it usually works fine but on the odd occasion i'll try to load the beat up and it will say missing sounds or suttin.

really anoying when you've lost a whole nights work

Rather than make a new post, I thought I'd add on to this one.

I've got a bunch of files (mostly 2kxl sequences and .ALL's) on my zip's that are longer than 8 characters (i.e. all_seq_song1.all). Now I'm making the jump to MCD. So I'm forced to copy the contents of my zips to my computer and then copy them on the media card(s). I'm assuming the long file names will get butchered during this process?? Any way to work around it aside from renaming the dozens (if not hundred+) of files that are longer than 8 characters? Thanks.

your ".all" files should be sweet, all the data is inside them, i think it only **** up when a PGM looks for, 808FATKICKintheguts.wav and in the directory the file is like 80809~1.wav

Yeah, but I remember a while back when I copied a folder from zip to PC, the three (8+ character) .all files I had in the folder were seen as the "same" file by the PC so I ended up with one .all file.

then make sure you name them differently. i only ever use one all file per project, i save as mid if i need to work further on another sequencer.

Stinky can't you hook your zip drive up to the back of your MCD ?

That way you could load your files to the MPC from your zips and then save them to your card as a work around way of transferring them ?

No, if that zip was formatted in MPC and files are longer than 8 characters, no getting around it. Something is gonna butchered and filenames lost, programs will not be able to find renamed files/samples.

It's gonna happen because of the zip formatted in mpc first of all.

It doesn't bother external devices at all.

I have a 2kxl, bought it with floppy.
Later changed the floppy to internal 250 zip.
Later changed the internal zip to internal MCD.

No problems at all runnin 512mb cf card formatted on pc w/ fat/fat16 on mpc OS 1.14.

I also have a external scsi 9gb hd and a external scsi cd-rom drive.
Both run fine, no problems, no interferences.

The 2kxl internal mcd drive I bought can be found in the above link.
Suggested by pt3r, works PERFECTLY for years now, no problems.

I don't think people were talking about using an internal zip,atleast that's what I got from it.I'm aware that the xl has atapi,even though my classic is screwed,no internal card reader(without a serious/touchy mod).
