WHAT MIXERS ARE YOU USING IN YOUR SETUP

The reason I ask is because im looking for a new mixer to complement my setup (MPC & a couple of modules)- Initially the Mackie 1604/42. Since the price went up i decided not to go for it, especially b'coz i only want a mixer to get a live/vibe mix on. The rest will get done in Logic.

What do you guys think? Should I go for a cheaper alternative but of substantial quality since im only using the mixer as a through. The only outboard gear im really focusing on is a preamp & compressor

I use a mackie SR24*4,

I like it, but it falls a little short of the more expensive units. It does have a decent sound and good EQ. Of the two you mentioned, I'd go with the 1604, since the stereos on the 1642 limit your channels if you happen to want monos. used they shouldn't cost much.

I use a Mackie 24-8. I like it but one day I hope to get a 32 channel Ghost or IF I become rich a SSL ! ! ! ! !

I dont think that will be happening soon.

I'm using the Mackie 1202 VLZPRO. I like it! Especially since I got it for $150.

I use a mackie 1604 , the old one not the new one. got it used and it does a decent job , but newer ones will be less noise and a lower thd.

I use a Behringer UB2222, I like it alot. I heard some bad things and good things about these mixers, but mine has done everything I expected. For studio use it is great, I would not recommend it for live performances though.

I was rockin a 1202 vlzpro and went through some hard times and sold it. Now i am keyin it up on a behringer ub1602 for half the price i spent on my 1202 and since i use an extenal pre amp, I don't notice much of a difference in sound quality.

im trying to get the same quality that King Tubby
and Lee Perry got from there analog studios
but on digital music thats not reggae
right now the only outboard gear i have thats analog
is a Line6DL4 echo pedal
I use Pro Tools digi001 with a ton of plug ins though
however
i also use a Fostex 1/4" reel to reel
i also own a Sony 1/4" 2 track that needs to be repaired
looking to get a Avalon preamp/compressor
a line 6 filter pro
and Mutron Bi Phase
and perhaps a Kaos pad
and then my set up will be complete
i wanted a vintage soundcraft board like Lee Perry had
but i went for the Allen and Heath
and im very satisfied

how is the sound quality and construction on that heath and allen mix wizard? Just curious.

Behringer DDX3216

This mixer is good. I wouldnt recomend getting the mixer based on fx though. The only effect I use, is a pinch of Large room reverb. It works pretty good to smooth over the sound.

Mackie DFX12 Solid Mixer for the price.
I dont use it for the effects either, but it has a real clean sound.

It's decent for a first mixer, but I am already ready to get rid of it. It's ok for a cheap price and just for a "mixers" sake.
