still no one bothers to mod-out MPC-2000's???

Honestly...
I don't wanna go buy a new one (500, 1000, 2000XL, 2500, 4000).

I like my MPC-2000 I've had for 8 years.
but 32megs of RAM is lame. I want more.
to me 32megs is only useful for a library of short drum hits.
I construct much longer pieces than what it was designed for... with samples in them that suck up most of my RAM. So...

isn't there anyone who can modify these??
I mean... it cant be too amazingly hard. really, wouldn't it be more or less; adding more ram and slightly altering the start-up disk program to understand it's got more RAM now??

I've seen RAM modifications for the s2800 and similar models. But the only reason it was possible was because Akai artificially reduced them by leaving out 2 connectors on the mainboard.

I doubt that's the case with the MPC2000, given that it's got 2 SIMM slots.
Whether or not the MPC2000 can be hacked to recognize more RAM is somthing I've never seen, heard or read about in the 10 years of it's existance. There were modifications to the MPC3000 that allowed you to double the ram from 16mb to 32mb, but I really don't know if anything can be done with the 2000. I think I know who I can ask about this, so I'll see if they can offer any insight.

I've been informed that it may be possible, but a bit more complicated. Eventually, more people who are into modding hardware may end up exploring this path. This really makes me want to do more research on the web and learn more of the technical aspects involved.

funny i was just thinking about posting something like this...

I read once some one said something like " i use a modified mpc2000 in my rig, it has 64 mb of ram" and it was the drummer for sting or something like that..... I might have even seen it on this forum...

but maybe the person made a ｍistake with the numbers

man, even 64mb would be a big difference to me!
I'd love that. though I'd prefer like something insane like 256 or 512.

there can be physical limitations imposed by the hardware, any given processor cannot address an infinite amount of ram, i don't know if this is the case with the 2000s or not

maybe try doing what was done with more limited samplers in the past. sample in 45 (i've read that you get better quality samples this way anyhow) rpm's then drop the pitch in your machine. maybe even 78 if possible. assumin it's a samples from 12's.

u can always cop another 2000 i seen them go for cheap like 400 and set it up in line next to it. that might be cheaper than a mod if there were one. but i would rather just spend the extra doe and get another sampler.

i'd also get another sampler. hook it up via midi and you got more possibilities that with only an mpc.

sit your mpc on top of an emu sampler (e4xt maybe), and take the next level into the world sampling synthesis, these machines have features the mpc's just cant touch. and all them filters, ohhh yeh.

about to install the (lame) 32 mbs in my 2000, but can't find any instructs online. hesitant to just poke around in there. have you any info or links to info?

the only mod ive seen is the card reader mod and its looks very tedious.

If you got the cash forat will mod a 2000 classic with a cardreader for $350(that's the quote he emailed me).It's not listed on his site however.
