on 2000XL is there a way to sample while a track is playing

maybe he wants to resample, or sample some real time cuts to a sequence he has looped on the mpc. sadly, its not possible on the xl, slave it to a DAW or HD recorder then try.

alternativly the 2500 and 1000 can i think.

When i was sampling my Juno into my MPC ..i used to used to set up a click at the correct tempo from my computer and played along with that (sampling into the MPC).

That was when my computer was too crap to handle the job. Now i just sample into protools and transport it back over to the MPC.

The only workaround would be if you have something that can generate the tempo for you.. metronome etc.. a lot of screwing around though..

You could use another sampler.Thats what I use.I have a korg es-1 and I sample synths into that while listening to my mpc.The es-1 is ok,you can store samples and it has FX and normalize to beef up the audio.Then sample into the mpc.I've gotten some pretty good results with it.
It works for me just fine and you could probably find one for around $100 or so.
A cheap workaround :D

Record yourself into your DAW while the MPC is playing. Then save the recording as a wave and load it into your MPC.

If you're playing the bassline on your synth why don't you just sequence it like a midi track? I don't get it.

same thing i was thinking, that or track out your beat and play it over the top of what you tracked out. Shouldnt be that bad

Maybe he wants to have all his sounds in one box as I prefer also. less shyt to lug to the studio to mix down. If we had direct recording it would be crak

I reccomend doing the same thing as pilchard said,

I'll record into audacity while the mpc is playing (but the two aren't 'synced'), then bounce the wave to recycle, chop it up into the pieces that i like, then export the pieces from recycle and transfer them to the mpc via zip.

That way its like youve got your own little sample all chopped up and everything to arrange how you like in the mp
