Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000
By hfinal Wed Oct 24, 2007 9:47 pm
Ok, so I`ve had a few errors with it, but mostly its been OK. now its got to the point where it boots up, shows "MPC2000XL" on the screen, "detecting memory", before it gives me the main screen.

from here, i cant do shit. i turn the wheel, no response. i can press ANY BUTTON, any combination (believe me, ive tried) and it will not respond. ive tried taking the RAM out, but it doesnt help.

I got the 2000XL MCD, its 1 1/2 years old, i bought it new.

so, what the heck do i do now? i have production work that needs to be recorded and done in like 2 weeks, and i live in norway (a cold desolate country) so theres no way i can borrow an mpc from anyone.

help?!?!? ill try anything.( i even tried dropping my mpc on the floor just to shake things about. no worky.)

Reboot with no ram on it. If it works, reinstall immediately the OS and then try again with the RAM. If it doesn't work, then you're **** son and I am sorry. Probably it just got busted and you need to send it back to AKAI.

update: this morning i got fed up when i turned it on and nothing worked. so i plugged everything out and picked up the mpc and shaked it up and down and ran around in my house like a madman. now its working again. lets see how long it lasts.

sometimes the only way to make an old tv work is to hit it really hard,

that being said, i would never drop or punch an mpc....

That could mean only one thing son: something is desolvered. So, no RAM problem, no nothing. Just take a day off work, open its guts, spread them around and start checking every single solvered part or ribbon-cable. None of these should move around or even move slightly. The MCD at its fine state has everything connected rock solid.
