If your going to tell somone to go read the manual. instead of being that your only comment. STATE EXACLY WHAT PAGE WILL EXACLY TELL THEM THE ANSWER OF THERE PROBLEM YOU LOOK IT UP FOR THEM(other then that dont comment if you cant provide that info) and if your going to Lock a post because its been posted before and tell cats to go serch for it. what you can do is. Post a reply with a link to a previous post. you spend 10 minutes looking for it typing in the right keywords and all that. then post the reply with the link then lock up the post. BOOM problem solved. if you cant handle all that. DONT BE A DICK and allow people to ask they questions.

Sorry, but it's not the people's business on here, whether it be simple users or admins, to do the work for you. This forum is not for getting a "quick answer" on questions that are solved quicker by skimming through the manual than posting on here actually, just because you are too lazy (no offence...this applies to a LOT of other folks as well) to look for it yourself.

I agree with you that the Search function here sucks. But the RTFM answer is unfortunately most of the time the best one to give.

he's told me to do it again when i had more complex questions, but with page numbers

the point is that if you never read the manual in the beginning, you're just gonna end up posting more questions later.

I dunno about that..I've heard wack questions like, "can somebody send me 1 bar of un-quantized hi-hats?" to "Can JJ enable a USB joystick to work with Pong!" In fact, just go through some of the questions on here right now. If old heads are asking these questions, then their typing the messages from a convalescent home with no idea what a drum machine really is.
I do agree tho, the search function is really wack on here, but there are other ways to get a lot of answers without waiting on a response.
(1) Try to figure it out for yourself.
A lot of times people ask question without even trying to see what happens. Questions like, "if I sample from my colegovision will it sound good?" are a waste of time. Why? Because the user will get a faster answer if he tries to do it for him/herself.
(2) YouTube has video's for days. Type in AKAI MPC and you'll get 1000 results. The answer ma be a click away.
(3) I hate the RTFM response also, but truth is, most kats ain't even trying to crack the manual open.. Some folks on here are a little too harsh with the responses, but we know who really needs the help and who's simply asking just to ask. Some of these kats got to put some effort into seeking the answer
(4) Spend 10 minutes out the day and try to use Google or Yahoo. Ask Geeves (or whatever his name is)
I think it should me mandatory to post a link of a users music just so we can hear what level they are at. If Kev Brown asks a question it's because he really doesn't know, and a RTFM response would be way outta line.

Nah, I agree with the rest. The sections are for this: to seperate noobs from old school heads and to be able to post questions to the right place if you wanna get an answer eventually.

I've posted a shitload of dumbass questions, but never got back the RTFM slap cause I've done my search first.

I like this forum cause it's higly specialized on answering very specific and hard-to-solve problems. It's not an entry level place and it shouldn't be.

And for the question that got locked, we still have a big discussion on the other section for exactly that thing : warming up beats. And the other thread "I hate this 2500" answers also this problem. So spend some time first and read other people's stuff if you want them to read yours and answer, where applicable.

I dont want to offend you but... why dont we all just post here in this thread how exactly you can operate your MPC. We will also tell you exactly what samples to use, exactly how to chop 'em up, how exactly to track and sequence it, what pads to assign them to, what keys to play, what drum pattern and drum samples to use, what swing amount, we'll tell you the tempo, pitch, sample rate. We will also tell you... no... we will WRITE the lyrics for you and explain to you how to record it and all that stuff. And we're gonna do this because, OBVIOUSLY you dont want to take the time to learn to do it for and by yourself.

Look, I ain't tryin to piss you or anyone else off. We were all NEWBS here once. I know I got told to do a search on countless occaisions. I didn't get pissed and go on a rant and talk all kinds of shhit. I just went ahead and did a search. Obviously I wasn't gonna get the info I 'asked' for. But I did eventually get the information I needed when I searched for it. Take this for what it's worth playa. These forums are a great place to get and give information. But if you gonna have that attitude, you will just be doing yourself a disservice. I wanted to say flowers when I first joined the forums but i stuck around and got to know a bunch of good cats with tons of knowledge. But you aint just gonna get it by asking for it. Most everything relating to your MPC has already been discussed and most at length too. Just look for your answers... they are here I promise!

9 1/2 times out of none, the basics are in the manual and the user just needs to read that, push the buttons that you speak of and go through at the same time. you can see how it goes right then and there and you can answer your own question usually quicker than waiting for a response, all on your own. I've already assessed by now that you can read though.

Most people are not familiar with searching using boolean logic but I've even explained that in threads of the past many times, Tutor has also. HOW TO SEARCH has been sorted by countless people and when you do it like we suggest you'll come up 9 1/2 out of none with something close to or the answers you are searching for.

Just like you say I need to loosen up, newbs need to give an honest attempt at helping themselves. Some dudes on here ready to fight and get brolic at the drop of a "check the manual" statement. Like I owe them money and they wanna break bread and my face... Cats is SO against the manual like it's a plague, and I ask, "Why?" They buy this HIGH priced pro gear and then can't be bothered to read up in the manual and learn he basics? They can't be bothered to find their own BASIC answers "how to load" "how to sample" and MOST famous "how to setup my gear" when there are pictures, block diagrams in the front of the manuals. But, alas, no one takes the time to download (they even use the excuse "it didn't come with one") a manual. Newbs and others need to be trying to answer their own questions first and foremost and stop relying on others and waiting for a response. Why aren't dudes requiring themselves to be more proactive in finding an answer?

people have seen that about me. even if I can't answer it there are some things that are universal to all mpc's and I may be able to get somethign going in the right direction. I will NOT spoonfeed.
Helping someone think outside the box and/or figure out other ways to help them get to their solution or another route to their solution is more a valuable tool than "the quick answer".
