I got my MPC with RAM maxed out but it did not work, when i wiped the sticks it worked instantly. I tried with different RAM sticks, none of them initially worked but after the cleaning all of them did.

Good call! In the past I think I used a pencil eraser to clean my friends RAM contacts. Worked fine after that.
