sampling while playback

what i do is i have my turntable hooked into my mixer and then play my song while i get the key or tempo correct... then just sample with all the settings on my turntable as they are...

I don't know if you've ever had any musical instrument training, but that is what the old swinging analog metronomes are for. At the same time, I usually don't use a metronome when I am constructing a melody.
