Is there a way to compress wav files onto a floppy disk

yep i have CF currently... it was the cheapest possible thing to replace the floppy drive with. doesn't get cheaper then that for the xl

Data is stored onto a digital medium in 1's & 0's....The data is translated from an analogous signal to digital information via the adc, when you sample in. The 1's and 0's are translated back into analogous information by the dac when played back. Your floppy disks store the 1's and 0's as they are...Same as a cf card, same as a zip disk, same as a hd....There only difference between one storage medium and another is transfer speeds and capacity.

The only way that the sound would be any different when loaded into the mpc is if the disks are corrupted or you drive is wonky...

yeah, all that is true... but around here you never know what goes through people's minds... haha

There s another difference. How safe is data on a floppy compared to zip compared to CF Card ??

No 1 on the unsafty side is the floppy (dirt, temperature, magnetism)
followed by zips with the almost the same plus the click of death shit thats going on (oh I think zips are no.1 on the list )
I dont know about cf cards and hope someone can tell something bout its saftyness
But I know bout Mo Disks To get corrupted data you will need to heat up the medium AND put it to a magnetic field. That makes it to the most safty medium of the past (like I said. I dont know how cf cards handle magnetism or temperature)

floppy is the absolute worst when it comes to disk read errors.... it happens all the time with non-brand new floppies. I have never experienced that with zips ever... although it is still possible.

all of these things can get damaged if they get wet or if they are placed on or near a magnet. CF probably has the best chance of survival if it does fall down ramdomely onto a magnet... but that probably wont happen since nobody would be foolish enough to put one near their equipment. I am not familiar with MO disks...
