MPC2000XL for MPD?

Keep in mind there's latency that you never experienced on your MPC.

yeah if you have an older PC keep that issue in mind... true.

new or up to date computers though dont have the issue really.

A better computer would lower the latency, not eliminate it. There's some sort of jitter in USB, since its sending out and receiving messages. You could get a PCI Sound Card, with a Midi Input, which I think would make the latency really low, or not existent.

yeah it isn't nearly an issue at all compared to two years ago... my USB controller (axiom) used to have that latency thing happening. Now ... nothing almost at all... not even noticeable. Okay I know technically speaking the mpc has less, and when you run a test with some sort of device or machine... yes the results are different but when playing on mine it is nothing. If that micro millisecond is screwing up your timing, it isn't the device's fault at that point.

keep in mind this is with a remotely new computer not running 10 USB things I am talking about here... so it very well could be still an issue for the person who made the thread.

I was going to get the MPD 32 before I decided to just get an MPC and in my research, I found out that the pads are the same but the way they are mounted inside the box is the problem. There is more air between the pad and the sensor in MPDs so what people are doing is like putting layers of tape, or you can actually buy an upgrade kit that is like little circular stickers that basically force some of the air and dead space out so the pads become much more responsive. Just google mpd pad upgrade or something to that effect.

i dunno. i realize you like your workflow with reason. but i will still advise you to not sell your mpc. atleast........get your mpd first, work with it a while, and if you are still convinced that you dont need your mpc, then sell your mpc. i say this cause if you sell your mpc and realize you shouldnt have sold it, you are gonna end up wasting time and spending more money. ive been in a similar situation.

also, like someone else said, there is no reason you cant keep using your mpc as a controller......unless you really really need the money. also, have you tried just using reason as a sound module and sequencing with the mpc? thats where i think the mpc kills anything out there, the feel and the sequencer. since you currently have both, why not give it a try?

it seems like you could always incorporate a mpc into your setup whether you are completely hardware or even all software

i guess im just thinking, youve already invested in the mpc.........a mpd will only put you back like $100, so you could temporarily use both for a real comparison, and exhaust all possible ways to incorporate the mpc, then if you really convinced, toss it.
