2000XL Not Recognizing CF Reader

Yes, that was one of my earlier thoughts. I was going to try hooking up an internal hard drive but didn't want to mess with the power source if I absolutely didn't have to. In your pics it looked like you have some sort of kit hooked up to the floppy power source- what is that?

It is just an extension cable that came with the Addonics CF reader (I guess you didn't get it with your CF reader?) I didn't have to modify the power cable.
For your case, you can use the same power connector for floppy drive.
At this point, I don't know why the CF reader is not working with your XL. It seems to me that you have done everything right to install it.

I hope you'll have your XL working with another CF reader you ordered.

Great news everybody! I now have a fully functional CF drive in my 2000XL!

Here are two crucial pieces of information that might help anyone still having the same issue:

1. The card that worked is a Sandisk Ultra 4GB! (Believe it or not, the recommended Sandisk Ultra II 1GB card did not work)
2. The card must be inserted in the drive before booting the MPC or the drive will not be recognized

Now, I can resume actually learning how the MPC works! See you guys around.
