ummmm....I don't remember the classic having the track-mute screen like the xl......track muting is like on the 3000; you have to advance track by track to mute/solo.....they're not all displayed on one screen at the same time like the XL, no way.......
I had bought the 2000xl after 6 years with my classic, loaded up a beat i'd was working on the day before onto the XL after unpacking it.....and sure enough, the kick drum sounded dramatically weaker. Even my roommate noticed (my lab was in the living room).
Yes, there's tons of hype goin around, but this is my experience from an experiment in a controlled environment. Take it or leave it. Both are dope machines. You'd do fine with either.
