All good, I was in the same boat 5 years ago, and I copped an IDE card reader for $15. It was all good, but it took a TON of trial and error to find the right kind of cards.

I could never find a 1GB card that worked, and I went through lots. I ended up finding 20x 128mb Sandisk type 1's on clearance at a drug store for .99 cents each, lol.

Me too. Tested many CF's and none worked. Finally I took 1GB CF from my dad's camera :D that worked. I said: "You give me Your card and I buy for You another card" :)

Well I'm back from my travels and I've stuck with CF as recommended here. From what I understand, the CF to IDE adapter works as the Cf card has the compatibility built-in. I'm not sure that SD would do the same.
Happy now with my setup!
Thanks to those with the helpful input
