Unfathomable issue with static and screen freeze on XL

Good news! Looks like its sorted.

I went to Ace in search of electronics cleaner and I wasn't liking the look of the one product they had (some aerosol spray). The guy there suggested using rubbing alcohol and told me some random statistic about how it would be good because it dried a certain percentage faster than water....

Anyway, I opened up the hood of the MP (bonnet it you're in the UK) removed the pad sensors and cleaned the ribbon with the alcohol. I then made sure it was securely back in it's place. Seems to have worked because I'm not having any other issues of samples triggering themselves or mad static sounds.

Fingers crossed it lasts, but I'm pretty sure it will. Crazy to think I was going to sell it for parts, glad this forum exists cause ruling out possibilities helped me to get to the root. Hopefully this thread will help others experiencing the same issue. Made this video (cause I was pretty happy) demonstrating the MP now working. Thanks for all the help.

i use the stuff in the spray can and it is really cheap and works very well.

I have had an XL for 9 years now and this very thing keeps happening from time to time, sometimes 5 minutes after booting and sometimes 5 hours after booting. Maybe like once a month, tops, but it's good to know that there is something to be done about it if it starts happening more frequently.
