thanx again mpc3000.. for that advice i owe you one 
i'll look more into what you were saying..
right now i got something happening that didn't happen before and that is after i turn the mpc then the HD i can actually see the drive on it's own but again not able to do anything with it.. the drive shows up under every id..
i'll keep you all posted as things develop...
