The effect is just from cranking up the Rec Gain, and nothing else.

this is a 2000 classic.
I never really had the chance to A/B the 2000 and the 2000xl but there are people who tell the 2000 sounds more "colorized" than the 2000xl. I also read someone said that he had two 2000xl and they sound different.
