Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

I dont have a volt meter or money for that now. Maybe I should just replace the resistor without checking if the old works?
Was your problem only the same thing I have, or did it have something more to that? I want to be sure before changing anything.
I havnt done any 8 out upgrades yet, so Im little bit suspicious if this really is the same case.

Yeah well, I just ordered solder sucker pump, soldering wire and those 4,7 ohm resistors. I will replace the resistor and hope that thats the problem here.
If not, then I will take a look under those 1/4 jacks. Or maybe I do that first.
If its not those 2, then I don't have no idea, what the heck to do next.

I m using normal rca cables and 1/4 adapters.
The same problem is there even if the mpc dont have any cables going in to it, so it cant be the cables.
Last owner used different cables and had this same issue. I did buy my own cables and adapters.

No I can't. Some times it haves some odd annoying robot voice thing coming from right channel and some times everything starts to echo.
Everything and everyones voice from right channel sounds like a robot was talking/singing/rapping.
I think it must be the resistor issue. Maybe its burned/damaged.

I get the new resistor, fixing material and tools today, so I will replace the resistor to new one.
If thats not working I take a look under the 1/4 jacks.
First I tought it is the soldering under the jacks, but I have done some research and it seems like it really is the resistor issue.

I have the resistors now, but Im not sure if they are the real ones....... Its yellow, purple, gold, gold, but the golor of the resistor itself is different and these are little smaller..... Is it possible they are from different colors sometimes when ordered from different place, or did I order wrong resistors? These are turquoise.........
Information seems to be the same
4.7 Ohm Resistors - 1/4 Watt - 5% but the base color is turqoise. Does that even matter? :WTF:

Ohm and others are the same in those.
I replaced the resistor now and its working, but nothing changed. It still haves the same problem.
Channels are still messed up.
I dont think it was the resistor then.........
Maybe its bad soldering/something has gone bad under the 1/4 jack boxes.
I take a look under those now. :hmmm:

edit: does it matter, what side of the resistor is first and what last?
When I watch pictures of other machines, the yellow stripe is last and goldens first.
,,,, or are the both sides similar from inside, so it wont matter how it is?
I dont know much about resistors.

my first thought is the jacks, as those are more complex than a simple resistor, not to mention the first point of physical contact, so much more likely to fail.

so you could try replacing the entire jacks, but it might be a pain in the ass.

two other options:
- get your samples off the computer and load them into the mpc via flash card.
- get the 8-outs and use the spdif input.

of course if neither of those options fit your workflow, then maybe not. but they are still options.

Right now I dont have no freekin idea what is this shit problem.
I just desoldered the jacks, but i dont find anything bad inside or under those..........really frustrating....
All this effort for nothing. You can just imagine the frustration and anger I have now..
I saved 5 months to even get this one.. Now I need probably to use the same amount of time and money to get new mother board from mpcstuff, because I dont think I never will find the problem of this situation...... Im not going to replace any jacks, because I dont even know if thats the issue.
Probably is something else and is just too complicated.
I want and need my mpc work full, so those options you did write are not working for me.
Well, the 8 out is something I will get soon as I have money to get it anyway, but thats not a solution for this issue now.

All I got from this fixing operation was burnt fingers and mpc even in more badder condition.

i would try to replace the jacks, either put the olds ones back in, or just get new ones. you've already gone this far, and it could have just been bad solder between the jacks. you could very well put the jack in and it starts working...i don't know what you are expecting to see.
i would have never thought this was just a resistor - this sounds like a bad connection or at the worst a fried op-amp somewhere. if you are going to do these repairs, get a volt meter - they are cheap http://www.amazon.com/General-Hand-held ... 10&sr=8-10. you could have saved yourself the trouble and tested that resistor before replacing it - you could also use it to test other resistors and see if one further down the line is bad. i still think that sounds unlikely to be the issues, but its easy to check.
most importantly, i would say, take a break, step away from it for a day or two.

now to be fair, you did buy a broken mpc. so you don't need to be so hard on yourself, it was a gamble when you bought it - win some, lose some. you can still have a very functioning mpc if you get the samples recorded to digital and then transfer to the mpc.

take this as a lesson in buying broken gear - only buy it if it's extremely cheap and/or you know for sure how to fix it. i bought an old emu sampler once that i knew had a similar issue, and i thought it would be an easy fix. it wasn't - i lost on that one. i did eventually sell it for most of my initial (low) investment to someone who understood the problem, but was ok using it with those limitations.

i still always say these are like old cars - if you want to use them, you got to know how and be willing to fix them.

After coolin myself down a couple days, I just tried it what happens if I turn the machine on, without the removed left record in jack hole"box" inside it.
The left bar is still flashing and getting some singnal from somewhere, but this time if I turn the rec gain, it wont go all crazy jumping.
So now I wonder, why it still flashes, because it can't came from the left record in jack, because its removed.
Also soldering of all of those jacks looks perfect.

When I did buy this broken mpc, I was 90% sure that I can fix it, in about 30 minutes.
I tought its just some broken soldering in the left rec in jack.
Problem now is that the problem is somewhere hidden and I dont know where or what it is.

good job, you have narrowed down the options of what it could be.
it could also be the record level pot. as i recall, they are a pain to get too, but you might even get by just spraying some contact cleaner inside the actual pot - make sure you can actually find the hole going into it though, or just straight up replace it.

the pot is another more complex mechanical part, and therefore a likely candidate for failure.

Yeah, but I know now it isn't the record level pot, because it sill haves the same flash/channel thing going on, without the rec gain and main volume pot wires plugged in to the motherboard.
Tested it a moment ago, without the wires that go in to the rec gain and to volume pots. Left channel bar is still flashing and jumping.

List what I have tested and are now proved wrong:
-4,7 yellow purple gold gold resistor (replaced 2 times to new but nothing changet.)
-Left rec in jack/ 1/4 jacks channel soldering. ( it was all good and even when jacks are removed, problem is there.)
-Record gain pot (read from start of this message. The problem is not in rec gain pot. Tested.)

So I figured out, it may be some other resistor.
When I turn from the rec gain, the audio goes all f..kd up. If I dont touch the rec gain and no sound is coming the left bar flashes 1 bar.
When sound is coming to the mpc, the left channel bar is much smaller.
Resistors are meant to control/limit the volt, singnal and others, right?

Actually, when I now tested once listening with the pot wires on and everything like it should be, it works both channels all good and normal, but then I tried to record sample and all the problems are back. No much voice in left channel, the echo "tin can" sound and the robot sound in right channel.
Wierd loud uncontrollable buzz sound goming to the output, when I turn from the rec gain.
I think it means that some other resistor may be damaged and cant control the signal.

I sill don't know what this is, but at least I know now what isint.
