Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

the asr10 musician's manual is 434 pages to be exact plus a 76 to 131 pages add for OS3!!! FX futures are covered by more than 100 pages... sure you can go way deeper than with an EB16, and it allow you to resample your outputs with or without Fx... converting sample rate is from 48.0kHz to 6.25kHz!
An other thing i def like (peeps rarely talk bout) is the layering/multi sampling on the asr>>> once you've recorded the sample, just play the roots key & choose the layer n°, asr will set the split point beetween the samples, and so on... that's an easy way to do a i.e piano multisample "instrument" (.pgm on the mp).
Beside the greats sampling edit funkshun jimisteele's mentioned, the synthesis feature is powerfull with 15 (not 10) modulation sources for an "instrument":
*LFO
*NOISE
*ENV1
*ENV2
*PR+VL (pressure & velocity)
*VEL1
*VEL2
*KBD (following the keyboard)
*PITCH
*WHEEL
*PEDAL
*XCTRL (extern MIDI control)
*PRESS (aftertouch)
*WL+PR
*OFF
all parameters could be fine edit... Also, not to mention the 2 filters,an osc, one LFO, one noise generator and 3 ENV generator per voice (WaveSample)!!
Some says the sequencer sucks... not for me at all! It's just a diff resolution than 96ppq (mp)... allowing you to record i.e a piano/guit part with less a quantize feel, cuz the asr act like a "synth" not a drum machine, but yeah, you can def record all your parts with this tool. It's simply an "advanced" sampler in regard of any "white" mpc...
But IMO, AFA strickly drmz talking... the asr has a lower dynamic than the mps ( don't know bout the 60).
Note that asr is 16Mo Ram max, but there's a work around when SCSI installed.
ASR cames out a lil before 1995, got one by 30/11/93...

Do not get rid of the asr10. I own both 2kxl/asr10 and use both in all of my tracks. But I was contemplating switching them both up for a 4000 or mv8000. I bought and used a mv8000 for a few months while keeping my setup. And while the mv is an incredible machine, I know the asr10 like the back of my hand and would never ger rid of it. But I would get rid of the mpc in a heartbeat if I had to. Also, sequencing on the asr10 is GREAT. Yeah, GREAT.

You can own only a asr10 and have everything you need to make a good sample based track. You need more with just the mpc.
