Dilema!....Upgrade from 2000xl to 3000 or get a Motif ES

I have a 3000, 2000 and an SP12000 and I must say...they all sound different. I can't say if either is better than the other, but it does depend on what you are doing.
1. The 3000 sounds fatter than both the 1200 and the 2000.
2. The 2000 is cleaner sounding and has more features and a better screen with more sampling time.
3. The Sp1200 drums are just dirty and unique sounding and it can't be duplicated.


I love them all!! And I have a Motif and its a monster too!!!!

just wondering how your setup is having all those samplers. Guess it depends on what your working on. You have akeyboard too, or use a midi controller?

a MPC3K just sold for the bargain price of £700 on ebay.co.uk. Typically the cheapest is £900 but everyone tries to sell theirs for £1300-£1500 then realise they can't sell them at that price no more!

Have you considered buying an MPC60 with the 3.10 OS? It would probably work out cheaper, and you might be able to hang on to your MPC2XKL and get the other thing you was after

Yea I got alot of shit man!!! I use a roland XP-80 for my keyboard, and I have modules out the ass!!! I got the Motif Rack, Korg MS2000, Emu Turbo Phatt, Planet Phatt, Orbit, Audity 2000, Carnival, Xtreme Lead and I want a Triton Rack!!! All of them are fully expanded and have their own place for being!! Like I say different sounds goes for different pieces of equipment! But If I had to have only one sampler I would choose the 3000!! But I began on the 2000, then I got the 1200 and I just got the 3000 about 4 months ago!!

That's crazy right there!! lol I thought i was over doing it.

Its the person behind the buttons... I heard that the MPC3000 got that Roger lin Swing, but i stick to my MPC2KXL with Extra's.

that site is the shyt! helped me out a lot when (and before) i got my mpc

concerning the "swing" or "shuffle" or "liveness" (u name it!)...
trick your mpc and double your chosen tempo before recording. switch quantisize to 1/32 and then just hit the buttons kinda sloppy....(switch off "full level" and try to add some dynamics to ur drums by not always punching the buttons as hard as u can....[gotta do this when it comes to hihats])

this can create some "liveness" and feeling.

but as mentioned before: it's def the man behind the box who's doing magic....
