does any one know how to get windows to see those disk that are formatted with the mpc. I have two blank disk that i want to be able to be read by both. thanks.

format them with your computer that way the mpc and the computer can see the files... If you formated them with the mpc, you can still re-format them with your PC. That is if you don't have info on them cause if you do it will all be lost.

You need to format your C drive to FAT32 - remember reformatting a drive destroys all data! You can convert an existing NTFS partition to FAT32 using Partition Magic, although it's a risky road to go down as things can go wrong. You could always set up a dual boot system - try Google for more info.

I don't have a MAC so I asked my friend and he said MAC doesn't use 8.3 format. He has never used a PC except at work. He has used MAC all his life so I trust him on that issue right there.

I use XP NTFS and after I buy a new ZIP disk or I wanna clear an old one I format the ZIP using FAT16 first and foremost..

Then my PC and my MPC can read the ZIPs with no problem.. I ALWAYS use 8.3 naming convention and I'm set..

thanks for your replys, but my pc won't read the disk. My drive is fat 32 not ntfs so i don't know why it doesn't work. the computer doesn't even recognise that there is a disk in it. But they work fine in the mpc. I thought that because my mpc has a zip250 and my pc a 100 it might have made a difference , but i tried it with 2 zip250 and still no luck. I don't care about losing any info on them because I was just using to test how formatting would work . So any more suggestions would be greatly appreciated. This is one of the best forums on yhe net . Holla.

format you zip in fat16 format on the pc and you should have no prob after that. hopefully..

your man uses the mac with the mpc?

Damn!!! Ijust bought an Iomega 250mb ($30.00 only, luckily), and I can't make it work. Now I'm reading your post, and it makes sense now. What kind of external drives are compatible with the mpc2000xl?

Just bought and hooked up 100MB ZIP Internal. No problems so far, check your OS, downgrade and see if that helps. I am running 1.14, no issues as of yet.

Mines work just as good as the next, how do you have it set up? Do you have it set to scsi ID 5, and is it set to terminated provided that it is the last piece in your scsi chain?

My CD is set to ZERO so when I turn the wheel it goes straight to it, and there are dip switches in the back that allow my termination settings.

It is terminated, since I have INT zip, and remember SCSI cable should be no longer than 6FT.

This will allow you format the Zip so that both the MPC and PC will read it, no matter what XP configuration.
