I stick with sound forge cause it doesn't take forever.
Also my batch processing is done in sound forge.. again, easier.[/quote]
Question for you Lampdog
Does Soundforge allow you to timestretch a sample to exactly 2 bars if you wanted it to without any guess work involved?

Wavelab is the shit. I'm contimplating getting Virtual PC for that program alone. It has an excellent time stretch algorithm.

How come you've started using yellow text?

There will always be guess work unless you know enough to get where you wanna precisely go. But yeah, it can do what you need, advice on how to do that is in the manual. I have even mentioned the pages in the manual in past threads (long time ago).

Man, people don't even try, like this one dude recently asking how many midi cables will he need, can't you just LOOK at the back of your gear and see how many cables there are back there, check the manual and see what's what? Hanhlodngg is not in my vocabulary (damn, see, I can't even spell it right). Then some wanna use that pretense, "but that's what the forums are for, help". YES, help, not hanhlodngg, and then when you say RTFM they get angry, all they CAN do is get angry, they can't read so they get angry, RTFM is NOT what they wanna hear.

Real bad boys move in silence ie, PRAH, EL MAC, Sparq, Blue Haze, Rohan, MPC3000, ALOT of other forum members who don't post often. So see, I'm just the normal guy, THOSE are the ones to watch for, the move makers.

I have RFTM'd the SF8 manual and it refers you to the help section within SF8. i checked out the help section on timestretching. i already had downloaded the 30 day free trial 2 weeks ago, and i like the software. i will cop the full version. a major selling point to me would be to have abililty to timestretch by exact measures instead of the percentage, tempo methods.
i was thinking that maybe i overlooked that feature or it was only available in the full version. had that been the case i would buy it before the trial ended. I have to admit the batch processing is the shiznit and it timestretches in warp speed compared to the XL's processing speed.

My problem was I didnt like all the guess work that was involved to timestretch a sample to a set number of bars. I wanted to be able to do it in as few attempts as possible.
I change the ruler that measures the length of the sample to read in bars 1st, then I make a mental note of where the 2nd bar ends. Sometimes the sample is longer than 2 bars or shorter. Next I change the ruler to measure in samples or time. All the while I remember where the 2 bar end point is located. Then I go to the timestretch screen and adjust the slider percentage until i get a match in the numbers that equaled 2 bars and then I convert. So far it has worked for 4 out of 4 samples just how I wanted.

in regards the the 2000, sometimes when i load samples i can control the tempo through changing the pitch, but sometimes it automatically preserves teh duration of the sample.
i think it's a setting on the mpc.
do any of yall know how to work this?
