From what I remember about the motherboard, it's more about removing mounting screws and unattaching connectors to swap it out.
Not a hard task but it may not solve your problem.

this doesnt do anything for me, because everything is frozen at the main screen and no buttons do anything.

I was under the impression that the MPC would work for a short while and then start having issues which could be a combination of bad RAM and or thermal issues. But if you can't access anything at all either the motherboard is fried or the power supply isn't working right.

You may have success buying a used 2000XL with a bad LCD and use the parts inside to fix the MPC you have. Good luck!

its not very easy to get that over here in norway... 1/1000 times the mpc will let me control it for 2 seconds before crashing (like in the video), maybe i can get into the menu that was suggested from there. but will this fix my problem?

No, it will not "fix it" it's a diagnostic tool used to look at some of the machine states and configuration. It will aid in troubleshooting, but if you're not able to get replacement parts you will need to find someone to fix it. If you can't find a repair place, your best bet is to buy a used MPC off of eBay (whether it's eBay US or eBay NL, eBay de)

But on another note, do you have any expansions in the MPC? I had a bad SMPTE card in my XL, and it did weird things. Try to take out EVERY expansion one at a time to find out where the problem can be. If that doesn't work, then put the XL on Ebay.. someone will think they can fix it, and pay $300 for it. Add another $200 to it an get another one.

if they stopped making the 2000xl years ago ,youve had it for 6 months ,then how did you buy it brand new? i think someone sold you their problem.

loki77: look at the first post, its about a year old... i bought the mpc off www.vstservice.com .

roxstar: as far as i know, the only expansion is the extra ram.. ive taken that out now, and it still wont respond to anything.
