on 2000XL is there a way to sample while a track is playing

ok. I understand. So the easiest way as I see it would be to sequence the bassline as a midi track, then solo the bassline track and record it to whatever you're using and then sample that into your mpc. just trim the ends and put it at the start of your sequence and the bassline should loop perfectly with the rest of your sequence. so now you have everything in the mpc. was that what you meant?

Or what ido which is pretty ghetto by the way..... i record my basic beat to my answering machine, then iplay it back, and sample to the mpc while im playing my message back on speakerphone. it works for me lol
