To be fair, it can be done but only to minimal affect. When pitching in Soundforge for example you can tick box an option to preserve duration but that will only hold out for so long....Like J said 4get about extreme BPM switches.......You can also pitch by cents as opposed to just semitones.

Its more of a fine tuning thing tho
