Lovely? Super? You guys are funny as hell!

Almost as funny as the huge Superman logo under my guys pearl white Tahoe hood!

Someday I'm doin a 2KXL all Pearl. I mean ALL PEARL. Buttons and all. I also found a pearl illuminescent light and gel for coloring the screen a bit.

Maybe I'll scratch the chrome/wood on the 2KXL for now, just finish the 4K that way, and pearl the 2KXL.

Anyway, Son

The screening is expensive cause it can be. They all charge a lot. Before my guy left his job for another, I got screening dirt cheap. I used to work in a screening shop too and got stuff free.

Here's the reason for the costs:

1) Graphics work
2) Frames, and labor to assemble
3) Screen, they wear out
4) Film, takes time and adjustments
5) Burning the screen
6) Chemicals, for making, and cleaning
7) Inks
8) Cleaning is a biznatch

not sure I missed anything......

That bein said, if you wanna change font and stuff, it changes how the text lays out so they gotta go thru and adjust every single piece of text. I tried on my template and it's a bit time consuming, doable, but timely. If you do it yourself and give them the template/art it'll be cheaper.

Son, Def color code the transport buttons, scratch the red.... too common times.... customize

AWWW_NAWWW, not sure how much yet.

Let me make a couple more pairs to see how long it takes and what the cost is.

First pairs, especially finished pairs, always cost more, cause more was involved in making them.

The next pairs will not only be faster and easier, but cheaper and likely better too.

My old man has a bunch of 1 1/2" Australian Cypress hardwood flooring left from his remodel, so I'm thinking of a pair from that cause it looks SO unique.

I'll lecha kno when I have more made.

Hopefully the 4K will be done in the next month now that I have these ready.

i see i see...maybe for the next one i do i will design my own template and see what they say...ive made a graffitti template for my 500 because its so small it might be in-expensive..it looks cool as he11 but im hesitant to take it to get it done..

i have to agree about the buttons..none of them will be original..

So far that sh1t is looking nuts.
Are you taking pictures with flash? If so that might be your problem. Take the flash off and take the pic with the camera real steady. That should work.

Not sure why but flash for some reason makes things look like a different color.

Lettering certainly is the biggest obstacle when it comes to customising :(

There are some cheaper DIY options i.e. Transfers & inkjet film but they don't look professional,
so I guess screen printing (although it's a rip off) is the way forward.

well screen printing costs a lot to do.

they have to take the design wanted.. which it seems you gotta pay for them to do that (getting the text off the mpc in scale)

then you gotta pay for the film it is printed on which i've seen them go for like 60 bucks for a large one.

then an experienced worker who is getting payed by the hour has to set the film onto the screen that is covered in product that hardens under UV light which also costs money.

you gotta probably pay for the screen too, but maybe they will "rent" you one of their screens. buying a screen can be 100 bucks sometimes.

you gotta pay the setup of the machines and paint.. mixing paint colours etc.... often that costs from 30 to 60 bucks.

then the print itself costs like 10 cents. maybe more since the mpc case is not flat.

honestly 200 bucks is reasonable for only one mpc to get done. now it would be nice if someone bought the screen and more then one mpc could get done using it.

then it must be a big place with a lot of screens... or maybe they make their money from very few BIG clients. That is great! Because a lot of companies will take the screen off and stick it on the stack to get erased.

Yeah, the first screen is always the most expensive. After that they get pretty cost effective.

A lot of places will hold on to the framed screen for a period of time without activity. After that they'll strip and dissassemble it. If it keeps getting used, they'll keep it till it's worn out, then re-make it for a small setup charge.

I always provide my own art, that keeps cost down.

Good to know there will be a 2KXL screen around :)

Once my 4K is screened, I'll share the contact so others can benefit from it as well.

I'd suggest those using pre-made-and-paid-for-screens shoot a luv payment to those who undertook the initial burden.

Son, I'd be more than happy to shoot you a $20 payment for access/use/reference to the screen once I get to my 2KXL.

:)
