MPC 2000XL MCD Card Reader Problem

Quoting this post and requesting the same info in another thread is pretty much the exact same as double posting.

and, just so you know, that other thread was a How-To to get a generic CF drive working in a 2KXL, so the Question of "Will whatever work on a MPC 2KXL MCD?" is not going to be answerable by most of the people in that thread who in fact don't have an official MCD. Instead we might have information in regards to what works in the specific drive listed in that thread.

That's the joy of having an organized message forum.

ok so i have the 2000xl but the original with a installed sd and compact flash card reader the compact flash card part works im n bot sure whats the max just yet im asking fat track off youtube so ill answer back when i get the answer...
but i went to a studio here in town and a dude had the 2000xl but blue the one that comes with the sd card and compact card reader already and it worked fine with both im beginning to think a later model plays a role but we shall see alot of yall on here are being very vague so im confused aswell as sum other i think we should get like sumone that knows exactly whats compatible and whats not to type a responce and then lock this thread

I have a 2000XL with a card reader, and I haven't had any problems with CF cards over 1GB, also I format my cards using the MPC EDITOR program...I also only use SanDisk Ultra 2GB cards(1GB cards are becoming outdated)...so 2GB CF cards will work, but you will not be able to partition....(I'm also using 1.20 OS)

I've only ever used 1g SD cards on my blue MCD (os 1.20) . As long as they are formatted on the MPC first then my pc doesnt have a problem reading them/transferring files etc.

Anybody Help Please!

I have the same problem, i have the blue mpc 2000xl with the Card Reader. The 32 mb CF card works fine, but I purchased the 2GB Sandisk CF card and it won't format. I keep getting the error message when trying to format. It's driving me crazy, I have a mac and it mounts fine there but is unrecognizable in the MPC.

Well, it is the size issue. I bought a 512mb card yesterday and it works fine.

Ok here's a few questions --


I just purchased an Addonics IDE digidrive. I need a molex power cable and an IDE cable to connect the drive to the 2000xl. From what I know the 2000xl has an IDE port not a SCSI port correct? I'd rather just stick with an IDE drive than SCSI.

am I on the right track?
Are the older MPC's less compatible than the new ones?

I installed a multi card reader about 3 years ago and all sd mmc cf cards are working ok.
Now my brother and a friend of mine needs carddrives and just cant find working ones.

the latest not to work was Addonics´ ide/atapi ultra card reader.

My brother bought 2 CF drives from MPCstuff dot com and both refused to work giving an read error. Bastards sold my brother stuff that isnt proved working. Fkers

Im familiar with all this "making stuff work" shit so the reason those drives don´t work aren´t because the drives werent correctly installed or the cables or that the OS ver was the wrong one - we tried all the OS version 1.20 1.4c 1.4 1.14 1.12

now im wondering if this new sd drive from addonics would work.

get 1 g compact flash card the 2000xl only support 1 gig i had the same problem

What reader did you install? I mean the one that worked? what brand/model was it?
