Ditching the MPC for the Maschine

That's what I hate the most about these freakin boards you can't have a civilized chat or discussion about gear without some Amish gear user shunning everything that's new tech to them. I originally only made this thread to discuss gear, yet it just turns into some middle school lunchtable argument I'm not interested in.

Oddly enough I was merely offering you a slightly different view, to get a chat or discussion going, but because it didn't resonate with your own you've decided that it's a lunchtable argument, and also decided I'm closed minded. When all I'm offering is the other side of the coin.

Let me assure you money isn't the be all and end all. Afterall we can all go out and buy products, but some people ARE happy with what they have. I will have to respectfully disagree with your idea that people are only happy with what they can afford.

I wasn't comparing the MPC to the Maschine, it's been done to death, and I've always said on here that there's a place for any products to work alongside each other. My point was simply that new technology rarely brings anything overwhelmingly "new" to the table. It just offers an alternative take on things for the most part. The techniques are usually the same, or based on similar methods. Which ties in with what I was saying about newer products offering emulations.

I'd also ask you not to presume anything like I'm some sort of Kanye wannabe who has jumped onto the MPC out of some fan-boy loyalty, and I'm therefore "hating on new gear". There's no hate at all in my post, and you know nothing about me or what I do and don't own, have and haven't tried.

I've always said the Maschine is a great product.

i guess the title of thread is sort of inflammatory, why do you have 'ditch' one for the other? they are totally different things and its this idea of 'better' or 'worse' that really gets ignorant conversations going.

as i've said before too, you gotta watch the hype because a lot of it comes at it as the maschine is an mpc 'replacement' .... 'get out of the dark ages' .... 'get with the times...' .... all that bs that is totally irrelevant.

hell, you don't think all acoustic guitars should be traded in for electric guitars, and why would anyone? they are totally different.

well i still say the sequencer in the mpc is 'better' ... but i prefer realtime manipulation over on-screen editing. thats an opinion.

also, the marketing and the fanboyism surrounding a new product such as this is really weird ... as ive said before i have a friend who consistently tells me i should sell my mpc and get maschine even though he has never used either. he is a youtube expert. and that mentality FREAKS me out.

well the end result is what counts, you have a song or an album you want to make.. so use the tool that you think will accomplish the goal.. i mean.. if you need an accordion to make that next track.. get one.
