Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Just thought I'd post since I have been searching for a similar fix with PTLE without any luck. I first tested the MPC 2xl's spdif out with soundforge, using the 003s spdif in. Had the correct input settings in soundforge but could never get a signal.

Next, I tried PT. Got a signal by changing the hardware setting in PT to ADAT instead of SPDIF. Did not have to change the clock source--left it on internal. This worked on PT file properties of 16bit/44.1 and 24bit/44.1--have not tried any others.

Couple of heads up tho. Since I monitor what comes out of PT through an external D/A spdif converter, after I tracked into PT via ADAT setting, I needed to change the hardware setting back to spdif to hear everything again. I'm pretty sure if you're monitoring PT via analog outs, u won't have this issue. It is not a problem tho since PT automatically prompts/saves the file and reopens (after u click ok button) when u change the ADAT/spdif setting.

Also, I needed/wanted to boost the output of the MPs spdif signal as it was pretty low coming into PT. Did this on MPs MIXER->SETUP page with the MASTER volume. Only goes up/down in 6db increments. I tried +12db but got feedback bleeps on playback of a kick drum. Went down to +6db and no feedback. The input level on PT was still somewhat low, maybe around halfway up on the meter. No worries since its all digital and boosting a little more thru PT's normalization did the trick.

Last, the MIXER page settings on the MP are connected to spdif out--volume, panning works as u would imagine.

If any other MP spdif out users have any more info, please post! Hope this helps.
