I think that at this point , it is going to be hard to beat that one we got for so cheap.
I mean , just think man , we know where to get it and we have the complete set up /install guide here WITH pictures and two different people have confirmed and proved that it works.
We wouldnt steer you wrong.
Grab that thing before the partys over.
Trust me , the thing is nice and gets the job done.
Only problem is that it's not hot swappable but at that price I can deal with that.

I also found this detail a bit confusing..

Manufacturer Part# ADIDECFB

* Product Type: Flash Reader/Writer - 3-in-1
* Form Factor: 3.5" Internal Hot-swappable <--- true/false????
* Host Interface: IDE/EIDE

(mine is on its way, thanks to all! This thread is hopelessly, utterly, disgustingly invaluable)

Also, has anyone else had luck with any 2 GB CF cards? If I could put a 2 or 4 GB'r in ther, I don't think I would need to do much of the swapping :mrgreen:

....now I just gotta go pull my Dell Optiplex GX1 out of the trash to give my MPC a RAM upgrade, after I go back in time 8 years ;)

"are you using the same CF reader linked from the first post?...that link says its hot swappable."

Yes that is the exact one I have.
I was led to believe it is not hot swappable but I have not verified this.
It has not been a problem for me either.
I had purchased two cf cards and if you read this thread you know one did not work.
Well I have not even filled the pny ( the one that works) card up yet so I have not yet needed to switch cards and I dont have another pny card right now to try it with.
However , I believe Mekishiko said this was not able to hot swap.
I could be wrong.
As far as the 2 gig card goes , I couldnt say much there because I do not know if that will work or not.

Yes. The only problem I had stemmed from using a card that could not be read.
The PNY card did the trick for me.
Whoever does not have a card reader should make moves on this NOW.
IMHO.

so has anybody been able to verify whether this is hot swappable or not?

the post says its not but the link says it is.

thats the only reason i have hesitated...

also did it require any kind of tools or supplies other than a screwdriver?

it comes with the ribbon and wires?

No extra tools.
The ribbon cable is my mpc did not look long enough to me so I picked up a new one for a couple bucks.
All of the wires are included with the card reader.

I just ordered mine. How long does it usually take to ship? I can't wait!

Another success story right here, and more good news....

So I got my Addonics card today, Big up to Mekishiko for creating this post 8)

Upgraded to 1.2 no prob

threw in an old 128 MB CF card with some programs and samples on it, on like a flash. .

dared to test the hot-swappability = no go. This is not hot-swappable, but who cares? I can load tons o' samples on a 1 GB flash card.

It took 2 days to ship ;)
