they did fall off, like some crack head shit, i found em on Facebook and saw some wall post, they claimed the last guy they hired stole all their equipment and there is no hope…..what a let down!!

What I meant to say was "fall off entirely". But this definitely sounds like they won't admit that they just couldn't improve the design. If they don't wanna do it, I'm sure someone else will, and they'll make a lot of money too.

I didn't see anything else regarding the displays. Nothing's been posted there for 2 years. But anyway, I'll check out the page again tomorrow to see what I missed.

If u look over at the side it shows people have asked on their wall and u can see where they say about their stuff getting stolen..look on the regular computer, not the mobile fb app.

I just clicked on the "posts by others" tab and see what you're taking about. This definitely sounds like a load of shit coming from Envison, as they placed the blame on not one, but two different engineers on two separate occasions...

Envision Electronics Design, LLC It's delayed. The whiz-bang engineer I hired in 2012 failed to deliver and I had to hire a new one. We're working on it and hope to have a prototype by July. Expected release date is August 15.

Envision Electronics Design, LLC There have been a number of technical obstacles to getting it to work. Our best chance was taken from us by an engineer that quit working, quit communicating and stole our equipment. To say we took a step back is the understatement of 2013. I am not sure of its status as it's now in the hands of a third party and out of my direct control.

This is clearly a bullshit story. Envision ran into a dead end and decided to save face with some very lame excuses that lack in any professionalism at all. If I ran a company and did business with Envision, I'd think twice about it after reading these responses.
Since Envision won't be making these displays, we need someone else with better skills and more professionalism to get the job done.

I'm hoping Simon will be able to come up with something. He really knows a lot about MPCs. So for someone with that much knowledge to get involved is extremely rare and valuable. I support his efforts all the way. I wish I could send him my spare screen. But it's only got one line in it. So I'll find another and send it to him when I do.

I believe it's still possible either come up with a fix or a replacement. So I'm glad that a lot of people have brought up the topic as well.

whether it worked out in the end or not... gotta hand it to envision for trying.. they tried to engineer a new design that solves the problem all together but there were issues with the communication between the machine and the display. That isn't easy to reverse engineer. However, they did act a bit too cocky considering where we're at today...

I agree with you entirely. It's fair to give them credit for their efforts. But it's a shame that they disappeared from the forums. I may sound harsh, having to call it like I see it. But even though I have a good screen and a spare, it's still disappointing to the whole community. It's not as shitty as the whole ordeal with the Valixi OS. But the entire vanishing act in general is something that I really don't like to see at all. Anyway, someone else is bound to take the ball and run with it.

not at all... that dude from envision who posted here used to talk shit about the efforts of people who tried before him to fix the issue... he worked in or owned an lcd repair shop and obviously knew a bit more than someone trying to figure it out from scratch as that was his 9-5... he looked at the passed efforts and criticized those people saying they didn't know what they were doing and it should not be attempted by people who didn't know as much as him... generally speaking (im not quoting word for word). Well even I told buddy not to be so cocky because of how long this plague of a screen issue has been an unsolvable problem we've suffered with... and actually he agreed he was being a bit too hasty. Now fast forward and he is amongst the tried and failed list of people who attempted it, and will remain so till they finish what they started if that ever happens.

so yeah, it may sound harsh, but not as harsh as buying a screen that didn't work properly and everyone is waiting for the fix.

I'm not surprised, considering how he talks shit about his 2 engineers that supposedly screwed him over. This whole situation is really a hot mess. I feel bad for anyone who got stuck with these displays that have so much lag or latency issues. That would drive me insane if I had to deal with that.

I think it's sad that Akai spent so much time making a proprietary screen instead of using something cheaper and easier to replace. They kinda turned their backs on the end user in order to make money IMO. Just like leaving the the 8 outs off and making it an extra. Something that you have to have.

I just bought a 2kXL. I've already installed a CF reader and was thinking about the 8 outs, but I'm kinda thinking whats the point? I almost feel like selling it and getting a different model (better than no MPC). If I would have known about the screen issue I would of passed at this point. I feel lucky to have a good screen, but am now constantly worried about the day it goes, rendering it useless. It sucks because I've always wanted a 2K. Maybe cause it's nostalgic to me. When I use to DJ, I used to love going to producers studios and seeing them tear it up on a 2kXL. I quit with music years ago and somehow found myself drawn back to.

I didn't mind the fact it's old and you have to know how to work on it. It's a hobby. But I can't repair a broken LCD. Now, they might not even exist in another 10-20 years.

I see that both mpcstuff.com and bignoiseradio.com still have a sign up list on their sites, but is that just to keep hope up? Or maybe they know something we don't. Just surprised neither has chimed in by now.

I really don't know why mpc-stuff still has that up either. Maybe they think if they remove it, more people will ask them what happened. They probably don't wanna deal with all the questions. But at the same time, it's not a good idea to promote vaporware either.
