Tried an ide drive in there to determine if the port is damaged?

If the the Floppy Drive works, it's not the IDE port. Try connecting the card reader to the middle adapter of the cable, instead of the end one.

I'm not talking about the 40 pin on the board. I'm talking about the MIDDLE adapter on the ribbon cable. Isn't one adapter on the ribbon for a master and the other adapter on the ribbon for slave?
