but 90 bucks is ok when an ide card reader is so cheap compared to a scsi card reader that a load of mpc heads have pushed the price up on!

You might be better off just getting an external reader from scsi 4 samplers. Its going to cost you almost as much just to find a bare SCSI reader/writer that you can put in your 2k classic. UNLESS, you just like tinkering inside of equipment...then do you!

I just ordered one of those joints from them today. Hoping for good things and looking forward to pro-actively avoiding the COD on my Jaz drives.

hey m8. following thing is the problem. i am from germany and it is not possible for me to find a scsi card reader. maybe i am to stupid, or there is no one to find in .de online shops..

btw maybe i will buy a scsi zip drive @ ebay for about € 10,00...

You might want to try scsi for samplers dot com anyway. According to their website, they ship anywhere in the world "allowed by US law". It will just cost more and take longer.

There was just a guy in the UK selling the internal SCSI reader by itself without an enclosure. You may be able to find one of those, Microtech PCD-47B, and build/buy the enclosure yourself.

Can't see how this drive was connected to the sodered wires. Does this "microtec" drive have 25 pin connection?

The Microtech is a standard 50 pin SCSI connection. The tricky part is wiring that to the 25 pin SCSI Connection on the MPC SCSI board. Read the pinout previously discussed. That will tell you how to wire them togeather. Just buy a 50pin SCSI cable with separated wires (not the ribbon kind).
I might be doing this mod to my second 2K. If I do, I'll get some nice pics for you.

I don't think this works with the classic, converter or no converter

Where can I find a scsi 50 pin cable(with wires) online so I can connect it to my mainboard wires? I keep coming up with 'flat twist' ribbon type.

This is the move....time to heat up the old iron.

I've sourced a pile of SCSI 1 external enclosures actually although they are of the 5.25" width drive variety. They should be in beginning of the week I'll see if the Microtech can be housed within them at all.

Just curious how people are using CF with MPC2000 and Windows?

I have two different CF Cards - an older 1GB and a brand new 2GB SanDisk ExtremeIII that I just bought for $40 through Circuit City w/ online purchase discount... Killer deal!!!

So far, I figure this...
If formated on a PC it has to be FAT (Not FAT32) and max 1GB, then both will see the whole drive but no partitions. If formated on the MPC, windows only recognises the first partition.

So, I've done this with my cards...
1GB CF (FAT) 1048MB no partions
2GB CF (MPC) 512MB x 4 Partitions (1st Partition PC readable)

Any thoughts?
