Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Man, I was way to excited 2 get my screen. Then, I installed it.... This thing has glitches like crazy!! It'll just freeze up and not let me view anything but the mpcstuff logo. The machine still functions, just is, the dang screen is frozen. It just doesn't keep up with the user or the time.

BUT ITS A HELLA LOT BETTER THAN NOTHING OR A BUNCH OF LINES RUNNING THROUGH IT. All..... Yeah I know right....... "ALL".... you have to do is know your buttons and save your work then restart it. Kills the vibe a bit though.

If yours locks up on the mpcstuff.com logo, please contact mpcstuff.com for a warranty replacement.

any idea what is going on? seems that most of the reports here are having the same sort of 'freezing' issues.

is a replacement going to fix it you think? you were upfront about the lag, so props for that. just seems like this freezing is happening a lot and im curious if it didn't come up during beta testing.

from what i can gather, this sounds like a software issue - like the code running the 'translation' is locking up, dividing by zero, something like that. so that is reassuring, it could be fixed with some re-coding.

if the issue is found, how hard / easy is it to update the firmware on the screens?

Our beta testing was done by a third party familiar with the operation of the MPC. The software is working properly and isn't "dividing by zero", it's simply waiting for a specific command from the MPC. we've found that the MPC doesn't send that command during certain operations.

We will investigate each and every occurrence to our customer's full satisfaction.

It's easy to "go to the forums", but please remember that your posts are a permanent record. If you choose to post on the forum without contacting your mpcstuff.com, it's not giving us the chance to make it right for you. We can't improve the product without feedback - we depend on people telling us what needs attention so we can continuously improve the product.

Thank you for your support.

so is this something that can be fixed in software, because it must be the same across all units?

i understand the comments are a permanent record but it's good these people are reporting bugs - everybody seems to be pretty friendly about it, thanking yall for what you've done.
but if we can get enough reports, and figure out a repeatable way to bring up the glitch, which would help to lead to a way to fix it, then that's good.

on the same note, if these screens have a fatal flaw, where in certain cases they just are going to freeze, then people need to be aware of it. at least so they can know what NOT to do to bring about the glitch, or how to fix it.

i think we're all in the same boat here hoping to make this thing work.

MY screen is becoming more and more tempermental. THe original issue was the latency. This issue is known and I sort of gotten used to it.
The next issue was my screen went blank in the middle of a session. I had to power it off and on to get it working again. The third issue was the screen slowly starting to distort. WHile working, my screen started to fade out from a clear legible screen to what looked like television "fuzz". The weird thing was when I laid my screen flat, it became clear again..i raised the screen up, back to fuzzy. THe last issue which just happened, is my screen simply froze...all of the functions continued to work but the screen froze.
I called MPC stuff and they were closed for the day...what is the possiblilty of me getting a refurbished screen?

this screen fiasco is starting to bother me a bit...i have a showcase to perform in 2.5 weeks from now and it would really suck if I have to power off my machine because of screen issues in the middle of a show. I have stated before that I am very appreciative of the new screens being made and basically understanding of the fact that this is a first time venture and things do happen BUT I can't help but to feel a bit slighted when the latency issue was known, yet none of the videos or information about these new screens mentioned and issue that is obvious upon first use. Please let me know if the latency issue was mentioned or made available to customers prior to buying. I personally have a hard time accepting "at least the screen can be read now even if there is latency" because when you buy a new product that is a replacement, its supposed to work properly. I am venting at this point because of my current frustration...all in all I simply want to know the chances of me getting these issues resolved. I feel like the screen is slowly dying and I don't want to feel like I paid for nothing.

I hope my explanation of MY issues helps with the next batch yall make, and I hope my issues can be resolved.

this makes me feel like it is a loose connection somewhere.

i know it sucks to keep going back and forth, but i think at this point you dont have anything to lose by opening it up, reseating the cables, and giving it another go. maybe leave the case or the bottom off for a day or two and really put it through it's paces.

well it was mentioned earlier in this thread, but you cant be expected to wade through ~30 pages of unofficial forum BS just to learn that.

The "fuzzy" issue can be resolved by turning the MPC on with the screen in the "up" position. We didn't know about this until the day before they shipped - it is ONLY an XL problem and is often resolved by using a properly grounded outlet. The problem is that the power supply is located right under the display and sends a ton of noise right into the circuitry. That is nothing that could have been prevented, but is on the list of fixes for the next design.

If you are using a three prong adapter or the house wiring isn't properly grounded, you'll get interference. The workaround was to supply the copper shield which disrupts some of the noise in all but the worst situations.

MPCStuff's site does mention the latency issue. We never try to hide that in any way.

That makes sense and it doesn't happen everytime. I'm still tryna work my regular flow to see if there is any series of steps I make that cause the screen to freeze. Thanks for the reply, it keeps me from gettin pissed. I know that you guys worked really hard on these screens and again I'm sure it's helpful to you all if you hear out complaints.

Absolutely. It's a new product - there are some things we knew (latency) and some we did not (lock ups and fuzzies). I am here to take manage your concerns to the best of my ability and always welcome feedback.

Here's the note on the mpcstuff site:

PLEASE NOTE: These are not identical to the original MPC2000/2000XL screens. At times you may see a small glitch in the screen or a small amount of lag...

sheeit... this kind of news i was not expecting. i swore these were gonna be bullet-proof... i hope all the issues can get sorted out soon.

Mpc stuff (as well as envision) mentioned that the lag is gonna be there. If they would have worked on making sure the lag was not there, it may have taken another year for the screens to come out.
