2000XL SCREENS!!! OEM!!! NEW!!! FOR REALLY REAL!!!

DO NOT LET THIS THREAD DIE! I just got an mpc 2000 for 150 bucks, and it needs a new screen

honestly I think his lettering should be a white square with black print like a crisp new 2000(xl) screen has.

Pulling too many Amps...... afraid it will cause damage to the PSU

Also.... physically, the LCD Panel PHYSICAL SIZE is correct, but is a greater resolution (Not utilizing all pixels) so display is small and screws with the characters.... BOO....

Again, they didn't stick to spec, and no doubt used some panels they had thinking it would be ok....

Didn't have much time to screw with it, so I'll get back to it soon.

I'm afraid to leave it on being there is still a electrical issue, and I'm afraid it will cause damage.

Gonna HAVE TO do more testing with the unit on to figure out why it is drawing... haven't checked specs on all components yet, so not sure where it's coming from, but I'll find it....

keep it up. I am in for two units.

I'm in for a screen or two. My screen is dying but it gets worse depending on the temperature it is in the room. The colder it is the worse the screen is until it warms up and it pixelates better.

Question.....would adding a resistor or a really small rheostat to the power source(not the actual power transformer, but where the screen draws its power) maybe help alleviate the Ampere problom? or is it a series circuit?

VERY SENSITIVE TO VOLTAGE SUPPLY ISSUES. once extended the wire to move the transformer a few inches... half as bright.

I need a screen, new here from London. Put me down for one when it's sorted.

damn... ya'll got me worried. I haven't messed with my 2KXL in about 4 months since dicking around with my MV. I better make sure my screen is ok.

Interesting thread. I did some reverse engineering the screens myself and came to the conclusion that they were pretty much impossible to re-spin unless done by the original manufacturer, who said no. The screen is a one-off oddball design that was not used in that style in anything else outside of Akai. So odd that it pretty much left the MPC2k to VGA plans dead in the water.

Dual chip select design is the oddity, but I am sure SMC has figured that out. If not, he is in for a surprise.

i am curious how the vga expansion for the 3000 works... and would it be possible to achieve something like that for the 2000 series.

Sent them the correction... but need to wait until my truck sells so I have the funds for the revised screens.

The other issue with the actual LCD panel that was used was their bad, so that doesn't cost me anything, and is now sorted.
