So let's talk about how much this is going to cost...
The new LCD Display will be $159 each.
VGA Display Adapter (VDA) $189 standalone or $99 with purchase of the LCD*.
The LCD consists of a custom module with off the shelf electronics. Attached to the LCD is our "backpack" translation module which is where the magic happens. Both the LCD and our module together are the same size/thickness as the original Akai LCD and will fit perfectly in the place of the original.
Connections are made via a 19 pin ribbon cable (included and available separately for replacements). The LCD modules are sourced from Taiwan, but the translation module is made in the USA. Programming and final QA testing is also done in USA.
The VDA will mount in the blanking cover where the SMPTE IN/OUT option is located. If your 2000 has the SMPTE IN/OUT option OR if you have a 2kXL, you will need to punch a D-Sub hole, or otherwise run a VGA cable inside the unit.
* The VDA is driven by our translator, exclusively. The order site will ask you if you have already purchased the LCD, so you don't double-purchase the translator. Conversely, the VDA must have the translator to function, so the stand-alone version has the same board in the kit. If you decide to purchase the LCD later, you can request that it is shipped without the translator and configure it yourself. It will require good soldering skills (nothing too hard) if you choose to DIY. Otherwise, you can ship the translator back to us for credit towards the new LCD and we will put them together.
