I acquired a MPC 2000xl in mid summer. I use a laptop and my iphone to sample. I went through the manual back to front. 90% of what im making is absolute crap. Im going to take the advice on velocity ect and play with it a bit. I have been using the xl 1 day a week time wise. sometimes I skip a few weeks and then crack out for days. mostly just trying to figure the flow. however this has been hard as i only use the xl as a primary source for everything. Im digging the advice so far, i think the hardest things to find is a good construction kit. I also have nothing for bass lines and piano. this is what my stuff sounds like.

I think it's great that you killed the thread with a couple of completely off topic tracks. Great work!

anyone know how Mr G would be using that Avalon VT-747SP in the set-up with a 2000xl?.....

would he be running everything through it pre-MPC? or through the MPC outs into a DAW?......
