zip drive

having trouble with a zip drive i just bought. when i have the zip drive connected to the mpc and i turn it on, it says "detecting memory." then doesnt go past that screen. but when i disconnect it, it goes straight to the interface like normal. anyone have a clue what could be going on?

there are no switches on the zip drive?
did i get the wrong one?

Yes sir, you did. What you have there is a parallel zip drive and it won't work. The zip drive must be SCSI and any SCSI zip drive will have one or two switches between the rear connectors (provided it is one of the blue Iomega models).

Thanks, I'm having the same problem but I do have to correct Zip drive. It's driving me crazy. Is there anything else that needs to be done?

Thanks, I'm having the same problem but I do have to correct Zip drive.............

We won't know until you tell us "exactly" what type of drive you are using....
Detail the pieces of gear your using for this and maybe we can help you.

Is it a parallel zip like above, it will not work then. If it's scsi, follow the above advice.

Yes sir, I followed the above advice and still nothing. Termination "ON" switch on 5 not six. All I get it two clicks when I put the Zip disk in the drive and that's it. It's crazy.

Two clicks? Sounds like possibly a bad zip drive. Are you familiar with the "click of death"? Search that phrase on the web and see if it describes what your zip drive is doing.
