Cant load pc-formatted jaz Disk "???????"

I've searched now for hours but i dont know how to solve this problem. But i learned some people have this gear and it works for them.
I have a 2000xl and a 2gb iomega jaz drive.
I downloaded iomegaware and the jaz drive appears in windows xp on my computer. I right-klick it and format it with iomegaware. There are not really many options, i can only choose between fast and slow formatting.

Now i can use the disk and put some .wav files on it.

I connect the device via scsi to the 2kxl. The xl recognizes the drive but i cant load any samples, it looks like this:

Type="???????"


What can i do? I want to use 2 disks, one to save (when i format it with the mpc, no problems there) and the other to transfer samples from pc to the xl (which is the problem).
Current operating system is 1.11.

the jaz must be formatted using fat(16). the mpc won´t read it if it is fat32 or ntfs.
just format the jaz disc in windows. there you can select fat when formatting it.

I just made sure that its fat (16) but the problem remains... i tried 2 disks, so they are propably ok

Format the jaz disk with the MPC, then hook it to the PC. D/l Translator Free (http://www.chickensys.com), install it on your PC and then you should be able to read and write the A partition on any jaz disk (or any other media like a CF Card or hard drive).

What do you mean by "read and write the A partition" ?
When i go in windows i can select the jaz drive (formatted with mpc) but cant open it because it doesnt see any disk.
Therefore i cant see/select partitions.

you may need that registry patch so the pc doesnt ruin the disk its on the mpc ... you can find it here...

Man, I have been going through the same exact thing. The only thing is my MPC read "DISK NOT READY" I have treid everything and still nothing. I'm stuck at this point. Any other suggestions?

Can you load/save? I had no problems with it when i formatted the disk with the mpc.

I tried the regedit trick from above link, but it makes no difference. Still data from Pc <--> mpc dont like each other.

Might an OS update of the mpc help?

OK, finally its DONE, and here is the solution to this problem:

Dl the "translator free" http://www.chickensys.com/products/sw_i ... lator+Free
this gave my access to the akai files on the drive!!
