Hooking up to a Digi Design MBOX

Does anyone no how I would hook up my mpc2000xl to my mbox, also someone told me that sence the mbox is only a 2 channel machine it is hard to use the mpc on it, and that u have to freeze the 2 tracks or something like that, can anyone help me with this?

Just plug some 1/4 inch cables from the stereo out to the inputs on MBox and make sure to select line, not mic, on the front panel.

As far as tracking into PT, it depends on how you want to do it. You can just record the whole song in stereo or you can mute tracks in the MPC while tracking each track one at a time. If nothing else I would suggest a midi interface so all the tracks are synced when you're done tracking.

Do you a external mixer so you could connect the outs of the Mpc , if you do let me know, a good midi interface ranges from midiman to sblive card, it works for me. i tell you my setup with mbox, mpc , and a computer. i hooked up my mbox outs to a mixer (any size will do) , the mixer outs to my monitors, the mpc outs going to the ins of the mbox, switch to line and the input/plackback knob set to 0. With Soundblaster live card i could sync the Mpc in Pro Tools for midi or audio recording. stop and record in pro tools while the Mpc acts like a controller and a drum machine. If you have any additional question let me know, you could search the web to for good resources.

THE ONLY PROBLEM WITH RUNNING YOUR MBOX OUT'S INTO THE MIXER IS YOU NOT GONNA TRULY HEAR WHAT'S COMING OUT OF THE MBOX BECAUSE THE MIXER WILL COLOR IT. I'D PAN THE TRACKS IN THE MPC SO THAT YOU YOU CAN SEND TWO TRACKS AT A TIME INTO THE MIXER AND EQ THEM. THEN I'D RUN THE MIXER OUTS INTO THE MBOX AND RUN MBOX OUTS INTO THE MONITORS SO THAT YOU HEAR WHAT'S COMING DIRECTLY OUT OF PRO TOOLS. AS FAR AR THE MIDI INTERFACE GO I'D GET A MOTU FASTLANE USB INTERFACE.

This would still be true with active monitors. While active monitors do provide a form of level control(input sensitivity, trim, etc.) it is meant to find the best level for your monitors with your master fader at unity gain.

While active monitors do provide a form of level control (input sensitivity)

so i guess you can adjust the monitor level. it's the same thing instead of using a mixer master fader you'll just be using the protools master fader. i'm not gonna argue about it you gotta make your equipment work for you. do what you do. dat nukka i hope the other info was useful.

I can see that you're a little upset by my posts. First, let me say that I'm not trying to step on your toes so there's no need to be upset. Second, I'm not contradicting myself. I said that active monitors have a "form" of level control, that "form" being the trim or input sensitivity. To give you an example of the difference plug a condencer mic into the xlr input on a mixer, bring the fader to unity gain and make sure the trim is all the way down. Now you'll notice that you can hear the signal but it might be kind of weak, turn the trim up until you're getting a good signal on the level meter. This is trim control, which is what's on the back of most active monitors, it is not a monitor level control.

Now all that being said, if you were to hook the monitors up directly to the MBox outputs with the "trim" all the way down on the monitors you would still hear the music. This is one of the things that a lot of folks who own the MBox don't like, there's no monitor level control. So to control the monitor level you either have to use the master fader in PT(not good) or hook it up to a mixer and use the mixers monitor level controls.

dat nukka, what I would do is run the outputs of the MBox into the tape returns of a cheap little mixer and run the monitors from the monitor outs on the mixer, this way you have total control over your monitor levels without compromising your mix. You might also want to look at the Samson C-Control, it's basically a monitor switching device but I think it would work well with the MBox.

i have a eurorack 1804x mixer, would that be good to hook up everything threw?

The Euro rack will work fine. read the manual for your mixer and get ideas how you wanna hook up you rig to the mbox, or mbox to mixer.
