NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! (Frozen)

I just made the illest beat i've ever made in my life on the MPC2000XL and when I went to save all sounds and programs it FROZE

So I made the beat from scratch AGAIN, same thing happened.

First when I press DO IT it says "disk write error"

i'm using a sandisk CF card

then I try again

and it says "Wait.........."

and then its frozen

The pads still work, but the screen is frozen and the play buttons don't play my beat anymore.

What is going on??? This is VERY frustrating, especially when you put so much time into making something and then it's just GONE.

How is your card formatted or did you format it yet?

I'm not sure...I saved one beat on it before but that was it, every other time it **** up on me. How do I format it?

Right now if you put in the MPC can you go to save and save anything to it and see the word ROOT?

yup, i can save all sequences and songs, i have trouble saving all programs though.

but i see the word root

Sounds like your samples may be doing something weird

Nothing crazy about and I'm sorry to hear that you lost your beat, but son...you didn't need to restart the machine. When you try to save something, especialy .pgm's and .aps's and you screen freezes with the message "wait..." all you have to do to get it unstuck is just to take out the CF from the drive...

It happened to me numerous times. Never lost a beat. If it insists to that message, swap the CF with another you know it works.

By the way, not all CF's work with the 2kxl. The MP can read the files in it, can save sequences but not pgm's and other big files. Be careful with that in the future...

any recommendations for a CF card? I'm using some speedy A Data 1 GB card, but what do you guys use?

I use the reliable Dane-Elecs or PNY 1gb
