zip drive or mpc problems

for about the last week or so either my mpc or zip drive has been playing up. ill turn everything on and go to load an unfinished beat or some drums or bass or something from a zip disk and the mpc will say scsi read error. so i turn everything off, disconnect all the scsi leads, reconnect them and turn everything back on and try it again and now everything will work fine. but the next time i go to use the mpc the same thing will happen.

im probly just going to buy another zip drive but has anyone had anything like this happen to them, was it the drive that was the problem?
