Should I take it back or get it fixed

Ok so I guess I messed up becasue I got this used 2K from GC and when I played with it their, the sound sounded good becuz I guess the monitors were loud. I just realized that their isnt much sound coming from the right side only the left one is good. I have my comp speakers hooked up to the headphone jack. So my question is...does that mean that when I record a song to my computer, am I only gonna hear what was recorded from the left side and not the right side, if so, can I take it to a music repair shop or should I retun it to GC. I've only had it 4 2 days but i like my 2k and I really wanna learn it

HAVE U TRIED OTHER THINGS LIKE USING HEADPHONES OR OTHER SPEAKERS ? IF ITS JACKED UP , TAKE IT BACK. 2000'S COME A DIME A DOZEN . HOW MUCH DID U SPEND ?

yeah man...I got it for 350, but I really wnat this one, I dunno why but I wanna keep it and I'd rather have this one than the XL, I know alot of people would think im crazy but im coming froma 404 where everything I did was by ear and completely diff from an MPC. I dunno, I tried my headphones and other speakers but I can only hear on the left side and barely on the right. I man if I get it fixed, do u think that it would be expensive

yump.....gets sum heady's for dem ears..or go copp yourself sum studio monitors!!!!!

its just the quality of dem comp. speakers dat sux dats all!!

I cant be the speakers becuz ive tried 2 different headphones and 2 speakers and I stil only hear the left side and not the right so it has to be on the inside...im just worried that if I get it fixed then their gonna **** it up and im gonna be screwd

its gonna cost more to get it fixed in the long run. i cant see payin 350 , then another amount just to be at square one.
i paid 500 for my 1000bk.

or dont use the headphones. do u have a stereo u can hook it up to ? all u need is rca to 1/4 jacks and plug right into the cd/aux jack in the back of the stereo.

before you do anything, did you check to make sure your mix effects are not set to right side of the speakers or left...
try to reset the MPC to manufacturer settings.

well take it back.....let them know the problem

and have dem figure it out! if its a simple problem they'll let u know rite there, but im pretty sure they're gunna tell you the same thing....its the speakers or watever ur using...it wrked at GC and not at ur pad..hmmmmmm

Ok but isnt this an internal problem, because to even get sound, I have to mess with the volume knob and move it up and down to get a good sound, I dont know if its the headphone jack

is this ur first MP ?

Or maybe it could be how ur pad sensitivity is set up also!!!

Yea I got it 2 days ago, by the way someone said earlier to restore the manufacture settings, cnad u tell me how if you know, I know im asking alot but my pdf files freeze on me when i open them because I dont have the manual itslef

From the "mixer" section of the manual:

"The MPC 2000XL has a 64 channel stereo mixer which allows you to set the volume and pan for each of the 64 notes assigned to a program.
Hold down SHIFT and press MIXER ( numeric key 7),then select "DRUM 1-4".
The mixer display will appear."

Make sure your outs are centered.

Maybe at GC they had the main outs set up and not the headphone jack and that's why you did not notice OR they did have the headphone as the main output and your computer speakers as well as your headphones are wack.
No offense.
You might want to get studio monitors anyway though.

if the headphone jack is **** up, why not do what everyone else does and use the main outs?!?
