Instaling an internal zip or perhaps a hard drive in a MPC

A have a mpc 2000 (not xl) and would like to put in an internal zip drive.....is this possible? Also I was wondering if instead I could put in a hard drive? Any help?

This is a question that I have asked twice and being very computer savy and able to solder(pretty good) I was told to just got with an external scsi.

What I did was I had a 1 gig SCSI drive that I had from an old Mac computer. I bought a case for 12 with cable and threw that baby in there bam got a new external HD.

If you want you can goto www.forat.com and they will do the upgrade for you its like $250 though.

I'm starting a MPC customizing company that's going to blow that place out of the water.

ok just to clarify,

it stated on the AKAI website that the mpc would accept 28gig drives, is that only for internals? what's with this whole 4.5gig-6gig stuff i've been seeing lately?

also, if you go internal.. can you only use either the HD or internal floppy/ZIP at any one time? can anyone explain where to get the power to an internal SCSI drive? is it just an adaptation of the floppy/zip power cable or is there more than that to it?

What about SCSI hard drives?

The XL can take up to 4.5GB in size (although some report it can take as much as 6GB). Unless you have many multisample programs, this would probably be enough storage for most situation. Much faster loading and saving than a zip.

that's what i thought. how about the internal query i had? can both an internal adapti zip and SCSI hd be installed on the same machine? if so where is the power for the HD?

hey tutor, if i get this info i'll do my own install tutorial for mpc-tutor site cause i think there is alot of confusion with this particular topic. no one seems to know what's what except mpc3000 (although his install is a little more complicated with the IDE-SCSI converter). a nice step by step process with pictures would be ideal for newbies.

Sheeit, if I had known that I would have sought out a drive bigger than that. Honestly, the main reason I bought a 4.3 GB drive for the steep price was because I thought it was the best/biggest I could get. (thanks a lot tutor jk )

AFAIK, 1.00 could use 26 Gig.

All I do know is Akai always said 4.5GB until 1.14 came out and then suddenly they said 26GB. Who knows with that lot, hardly the most customer friendly company in the world - otherwise there'd be no need for sites like this.

again.. i hate repeating myself but is anyone going to answer my question earlier about the power for the internal HD? what about the zip and HD together installed on the same machine?

i tried asking about this same topic a little while ago. i've got a 100meg internal SCSI zip drive sitting around because i've been trying to find out how to modify my original cables or if i can buy the proper cabling somewhere. i've asked around a lot and i can't get a straight answer to save my life. crapp.

the crappy thing about large scsi harddrives is that you can only make the partitions with mpc if you want the all the partitions to be readable by mpc. AND partitions are 880 mb each ( thats the biggest partitions mpc can read) SO with a 26gb drive you end up having 30 partitions and that sucks. and if you make the partitions with a pc you can only make one partition that will be recognized by the MPC AND that cant be larger then 880 mb, with the nice fact that if you make the partitions using mpc, your pc can read only the first partition, which means NO backing up the rest of the partitions.

I wonder if that www.mpc2000xl.com dude could write a program to make pc be able to read the akai partitions?

**** the partitions dude, life wasnt meant to be easy. i mean how hard can it be using folders.
