2 Questions

1. can you 'copy' one sequence onto another?

for example, i like the melody i've just created on SEQ49. can i put that melody on top of the rhythm i created on SEQ01?


2. can you transfer sequence information from one pad onto another?

for example, in SEQ01 i like the rhythm i created using pad B1. can i, for whatever reason, transfer that (MIDI?) information so it occupies pad B4? (and then ASSIGN the relevant sound to that pad).


i've wondered about these aspects for a while, whether it is possible to do this or not. it would make my current project much easier. i have not seen anything in the manuals about this, and will probably told to RTM, but any tips are welcome.

Copy the Track with your melody from the one sequence to an empty track on the other sequence.

Wait...why not just assign a new sound to the original Pad?

Copy the Track with your melody from the one sequence to an empty track on the other sequence.

what i'm trying to do is free up the original pad and transfer the sound (no problem) and the MIDI data so it takes up a different pad entirely.

the second one, i dont think you can do that but there is a work around. make a new program with the other sound on the same pad as the first sound, then copy track to a new track and change the drum to the new program.

what i'm trying to do is save different songs together. One song may use pads A04, A05, B07, B08 and C14, another song may use A06, A07, B10 and C14.
They both use C14, so can i transfer the MIDI data on C14 from song one, onto another pad? (and then assign the sound to that pad)
i would then be able to store song 1 and 2 together as the pads they use are completely different from each other.

also you could use the transpose function in the edit screen, you'll need to change the track from drum to midi for it to work though Then just transpose to the new pad value and change back to drum

also you could use the transpose function in the edit screen, you'll need to change the track from drum to midi for it to work though Then just transpose to the new pad value and change back to drum

That's a sweet solution, I've never even tried something like that. I would use step edit and go through replacing each hit of the pad with the one I want then delete the original, but if your sequence is more than say... 8 bars this could get tedious.

the only bummer is on the xl the transpose only goes to 12 semitones, so you may need to use it several times to get from say pad A3 to A4.
There's some extremely useful functions in that edit screen apart from just copy, dont sleep!!!
