I currently own a MPC 2000xl with a zip drive, effects card, and 8 outs and maxed out ram. I been using it and it is cool but a lot of people on this forum talk about how the mpc 3000 is so much better. This discourages me to continue my use on the 2kxl and now i have the opportunity to buy a 3000 but i need money so i am going to sell my 2kxl. Should i carry on with this and buy the 3000 or continue with the 2kxl.

Don't believe the hype, although im still new with my XL, I wouldnt buy or trade it for a 3000. Its all about your liking and how you create your music. Everyone has their own style, stick with it man and give it a chance. I wish I had the fx, 8 outs and zip drive, but anyways dont get discourage because what they do on the 3000, is what you can do on the XL

I'm personally in love with my 3000 but I have to agree with zndk17. give your current MPC a chance, 3000's ain't goin nowhere...

Personally, i sometimes urge for the new os of a 2500. I would never go to a 3000. keep the xl or if u do move up go 2500.

to be honest with u - rather than getting 3000 i would upgrade to a card read man. screw zips!

you are doing a mistake yeah.

if i recall it right the chopping with the 3000 is a pain in the as if you dont have the new os chip installed in it...

dont sell the 2000 man, at least give it little more time to get used to it before you make your mind about whether you should sell it or not...

the 2000xl has more features. But the 3000 has a better sound.

(w/ raised hand), I.

I had the 2k classic for four years before I had my own 3k.
I honestly like the sound of the 3k waaay better.
So much so that I didn't mind losing the more advanced features I had in the 2k.

i'll never understand this fascination with the 3000 supposedly being better than the 2000xl.

its almost like a cult lol

as far as im concerned all the pre 4000 mpc's are in the same class with the only exception being the 60 since it records 12 bit.

but i cant say i would be too fond of any machine without the capabilities of the XL

That's where I would draw the line as well 2kxl and above.

I can make up for the sound in a daw when pocessed.
