Akai MPC and scsi CD Rom?

Is it possible to use a cd rom with a scsi connection to the akai 2000?

Yes.

Unfortunately the mpc 2000 does not read standard formatted CDROM images like its successor MPC 2000xl.

Much appreciated man - I understand you can only use a 9 gig scsi HD at max with the 2000. if buying one of these am I likely to be able to connect it to the akai - there are so many different types of scsi connection ie db/hd/centronics, male/female etc

I just got 2-Bay 5.25" SCSI Case CF-7021 off allegro.pl for about $40 and i`m happy as hell. I installed the 1GB SCSI HD and SCSI CD-ROM and connected to my MPC2000.

I found it really comfortable not to flip all these floppy disks but I still can`t boot the OS from the SCSI device ( I heard/read that mpc 2000 can`t do it, so I did not even try to load the OS to the HD)

Yeh thats about $100 or 50 quid cheaper than scsishopuk. Did you get the scsi cable with it or buy it separate?

i got the DB25m to CS50m cable for about $10 more dollars in the electronic shop so i`m still cool with it

span seems to bee good option but i did not make any business with them yet!

BTW. Does anyone know what capacity SCSI HD can the MPC2000 handle?

I searched the forum but didn`t get an answer. I found that the mpc 2000 might handle the 2GB disk some say that even 9GB disks so im concerned....help please and tell me is it worth getting another bigger scsi disk

Hey man, a Scsi Hd bigger than 9 gig will not work with the MPC 2000 - unless you partition the HD. I have no experience of partitioning the drive and am buying a 9.1 gig. My friend has used the 2000 for years on a 9 gig, samples are relatively small and you can always daisy chain the scsi drives if needed. The choice is yours

No thats not true. You just need to go to the disk menu -> Save -> Type: Copy Operating System
Insert your boot floppy disk and hit "do it".

The MPC is loading the OS forom the floppy disk and after this is done you need to set the destination device. Choose the SCSI ID of your HD and hit "Do It"

You can also create a program with some settings that you always use and save this as "ALL_PROGRAM.APS" and also the Sequence settings as "ALL_SEQ_SONG1.ALL". The MPC will auto load these files after booting so you got all your settings right there.

What about the data I have on my HD? Will it get erased while copying the OS onto my HD?

What about the partition sizes? what they have to be?I guess thhese have to be 9GB partitions as MPC can use 9GB drives but just make me sure tell me!
Daisy Chaining for me is not an option, I have no more space in on my desk/in my room

Another thing. Is there a software that helps me create the Akai CD iso files?
the in-thread link someone gave does not suit me as the instructions in there say we need a 540MB hd to make the image file and so on.... I want to do it on my PC
